Vastly different writing style than Wrinkle. Extremely unnecessarily padded prose like someone went crazy with the thesaurus. The writing felt inauthentic and stale. From word choice to character names, it was all just so needlessly complicated and wordy: to the point that I can’t tell who the intended audience is. I thought it was kids and young adults; but I would be shocked if the YA crowd could stay engaged in the weak, meandering, poorly developed plot.The characters felt real in Wrinkle. They were dynamic, complex and carried the reader’s heart through the story. But in Planet, they’re reduced to paper cutouts. I was particularly disappointed with our former heroine, Meg. Nothing wrong with getting married and having a family, but everything that we loved about her is missing here. She’s completely watered down in favor of becoming a quiet, pretty housewife. Couldn’t she keep her personality, her intelligence and love of science? As a lover of the first novel, this was a supreme disappointment.

A memory of my childhood, still fresh though years, have pasted numbering 52 years to my count since I read this last.Like an old bathrobe still thick and warm. I still love this story that much.
Although I admire the entire trilogy, this remains my favorite because it demonstrates how a single choice can impact history. It can inspire readers to pursue their own ‘what if’ questions and can encourage them to be thoughtful about making choices.
