This book was an absolute delight from start to finish! I had the pleasure of experiencing it both in physical form & as an audiobook, & I can’t recommend the audio version enough—it felt like watching a movie! 👏🏼 The production was top-notch, with multiple narrators & immersive sound effects like text messages, tape recorders, & more, which truly brought the story to life. The physical copy was equally impressive, featuring visually stunning maps & diagrams that added depth to the reading experience.The story was packed with intriguing characters & suspects that kept me hooked. The eerie camping scene, the cracking of codes, & the relentless tension from threatening letters & texts all contributed to an atmosphere of suspense that made it hard to put the book down. The story’s twists & turns, full of red herrings & multiple mysteries, kept me guessing until the very end.This was a thrilling read that I’m so glad I finally picked up. It delivered everything I love in a mystery—suspense, complexity, & a well-crafted narrative that kept me engaged from start to finish!𝗣𝗹𝗼𝘁: Everyone in Fairview knows the story of Andie Bell's murder by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who then took his own life. 5 years later, Pip feels there's more to the story. Remembering Sal as a kind person, she can't believe he was a killer. As a high school senior, she decides to investigate the case for her final project. But as she uncovers dark secrets, Pip realizes someone doesn't want the truth to come out, putting her own life at risk.

I watched the limited series on Netflix before reading this book, and I really enjoyed it. Then I found out the book club at my local library was reading this book, so I decided to read it too. I'm really glad I did, because as good as the show was, the book was even better. It kept me on the edge of my seat and kept the pages turning. I'm really looking forward to reading the next book in this trilogy.

Good book! Hard to put down!

Pip needs to complete a Senior project before her high school graduation. She decides to explore the disappearance of a young girl and the apparent suicide of the boyfriend, Sal. Because Pip knew Sal as a kind, soft spoken, genuinely warm hearted person, she couldn’t believe that he was actually guilty of the crime that the whole town believes he did. Pip sets out to find out what really happened, but it might mean disaster for Pip. Great story line, believable, twisty. I liked it!!Andu’s sister Becca killed her cux Andi was a manipulator and psycho. Andi was having sex with Mr Eliot a teacher and tried to blackmail him. He thot he killed her but she was still alive, hence Becca killing her, Mr Eliot mistakenly kidnaps a challenged girl he thinks is Andy but she’s not.

I read this book so I could watch the show on Netflix. I felt like the book was slow in the beginning, but eventually picked up and was very enjoyable. I listened to about half the book and the audiobook was narrated really well. I likely will read the rest of the books in the series at a later time!

This was a deeply complex story with many difficult hard hitting topics. Yet the author traversed them each gracefully. Masterfully weaved with subtle nuance it is absolutely a must read!

4.25 I really enjoyed this. I can completely see why it was turned into a TV show. The writing was so well done, you're immediately invested in the story. Pip's logs made me feel a part of the investigation. Raviis my favorite. Despite all his family went through he still had this calming nature to him. The only real issue is if my 17-year-old daughter was out investigating like Pip I would have had a fit.

I really enjoy this! I watch the series on Netflix too but its a bit different with the book. I think the book better explain the character's choices and the timelines make more sense. I think I'm going to read the whole series.

I couldn’t put this book down… and that’s rare for me. Really well done with great twists. I highly recommend it.

It was a little bit dirty but its seems that the book have years of history, so its not bad, its in perfect conditions, so for me its a 5 stars, for half of the price.

4.5 stars. I’m pretty sure I’m the last person to read this book, lol, but I had a great time reading it! I loved Pip (even though she did some stupid stuff at times) and couldn’t figure out the ending. I was truly like, WHO KILLED THIS GIRL?!

This was a thrilling, twisty read that had me hooked from the start! Pippa Fitz-Amobi is one badass, determined girl who decides to dig into a closed murder case for her school project. The twists and turns in this book had me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn't put it down. Pippa's cleverness and determination make her such a relatable and inspiring character. The blend of mystery, suspense, and high school drama is perfect, keeping you guessing until the very end. If you're into gripping whodunits with a fierce female lead, this book is definitely for you. Trust me, you won't be able to stop reading!

My first read of 2025 and what a way to start. This book has very unique plot a great writing style multiple ways of showing research throughout this investigation through this high schoolers point of view. However, my main complaint is that there are two different versions of the story and I found that out when discussing the book with my friend who is in Europe and she has a book that completely different than where mine is set in Connecticut for the US version. Though still very curious to continue this trilogy and see where the story continues to take us with this main character.

We are first introduced to Pip, who's an awkward, homework-loving senior. The story rotates between her POV, interview notes and her project journal entries. I think due to the format, I was hooked and it kept the story moving at a quick pace. I also really enjoyed how from the beginning, we are rooting for Sal. Pip mentions her bias in thinking that he is innocent, and I loved watching her try to prove this thinking. This one was such a FUN read and I had a hard time putting it down. I loved the story telling and the pacing was excellent, and was overall just an easy and enjoyable read.I'll admit this story does require some suspension belief... For a high school girl to start her own murder investigation, and knowingly put herself in danger, talking to known drug dealers, etc was a bit much. And everyone she interviewed just seemed to spill too much detail all too easily, which just seemed all to convenient if I put too much thought into. But that being said, the way the author wrote the story made it easy for me to disregard those things and still enjoy the book!I really enjoyed the main character and her gumption. She was very easy to root for and I loved her personality. I do think a little more effort could have been put in to develop her character more, and add a deeper layer of connection for the reader that I think would have taken it to the next level. But once again, overall characters were very well done!It's hard for me to enjoy young adult books, but I did really love this one! Didn't have the usual level of immaturity I often find in other young adult books, so this was very enjoyable for me. Can't wait to read the rest of the series, and even more excited for the TV show!

There is no shortage of people who had ill will toward Andie. The case study becomes all-consuming, and Pip foregoes her regular friends to spend time with Ravi, the only one she can share her theories with. Family and teachers become concerned for her as Pip crosses the line in what she will do to find information. She puts herself and Ravi in great danger.The intricacies of the plot will have readers on their toes, keeping up with the clues Pip is following. Holly Jackson has carefully provided case details for the reader, such as a map and timeline of Andie’s whereabouts the night she was killed. Also, Pip’s interviews are provided in the format of interview transcripts, showing the questions Pip asks and the answers given. The result is the reader is very invested in solving the case along with Pip. Ordinarily, I don’t care for some of these stylistic choices the author made, for example, by putting Pip’s filled-out form for the project’s proposal on the first page. I felt it was cheating a little by letting the reader know what’s going on before the story starts, but I got caught up in the story quickly after that. This novel will keep readers of young adult books and mysteries engaged.
