Hap Collins is home, fresh from his stint on an offshore oil rig, bright with determination to change his life. Joe Lansdale has written another fine story featuring the odd couple Hap and Leonard. When Hap returns from a job on an offshore oil rig he finds that Leonard has been accused of murdering his off and on boyfriend. He is hastily cleared of the charge but that is just the beginning of the mayhem.Someone has ransacked Leonard's house looking for some tapes they think he has and this leads to the real crux of the story of what is on the mysterious tapes and who wants to recover them. As the story unfolds there are lots of twists and violence as always but this is one hell of a good yarn. It will keep you guessing until the surprise ending.But more than the story the relationship between Hap and Leonard is the great part of the book as their friendship survives despite very different outlooks on life and good versus evil. Then there is Brett, a real Texas tornado of a woman who becomes a real love interest for Hap. Her outrageous character is a real hoot! I highly recommend this book for a great redneck mystery and lots of laugh out loud humor. As an aside, if you like these books the spinoff television series based on three of the authors books is outstanding.
... which is to fall head-first into trouble. At least they've got each other to complain to!Dark, scary, ugly, and shows the dark side of their world. Kept me on the edge of my seat.

This was a series on Sundance tv that got cancelled. I loved it. The books are good, easy fun
Joe R. Lansdale is one of my favorite authors and this is hands down my favorite book in the Hap and Leonard series! Since this is a product review and not a book review, I will keep my comments to the actual product.I purchased this audio book for an upcoming road trip and the CD was delivered two days after purchase. CD was easy to upload to my phone and the quality is what you would expect from an MP3 delivered via CD.
