When Bailey's new boss turns out to be his childhood bully, a.k.a. Jake the Jerk, it's time to call in backup for the annual corporate retreat in Vegas. Too bad Bailey works too much to date. His best option is to ask his very straight roommate to play the part of temporary boyfriend, even if Gordo is better with pythons than he is with people.
But they haven't even checked into the hotel and Jake the Jerk is already everywhere. The pressure is on for Bailey to prove he deserves to climb the corporate ladder, but it's hard to talk shop when Gordo goes from backup to an increasingly attractive distraction.
Bailey's trying to keep his cool, schmooze the executives, and stick to the plan, even though Gordo's not playing by any of the rules. They've always been just friends, but maybe it's time to be boyfriends . . . with full benefits.

I love a good revenge story, even though I didnβt know it would be one. The chemistry between Bailey and Gordo was a nice surprise. Gordonβs gentle giant persona was so sweet and his love of animals made me smile. Many of us can relate to Baileyβs struggle with trying to be the best without burning out. Unfortunately, there are usually obstacles that make it difficult to do both. Jake the jerk is so unlikable and is reminiscent of a few bosses Iβve had. Without spoilers, I will say that everything turned out fine and I didnβt have to pitch my device across the room.πThis story made me laugh out loud and smile a lot. I will be seeking more of Allisonβs work. Wish there was a book about Elia. Would love to read about him and his emus. π
The MCs in this lovely story are Bailey and Gordo. What happens when you find out your past bully is your new boss, and you suddenly find yourself attracted to your roommate you thought was straight? Read this book to find out. You won't be disappointed. BTW, Elias needs his own book. He's a side character but becomes the BFF of Gordo and plays a big part in the ending. Note: there is mention of past bullying.
This is a modern ratrace romance with a very relatable story. This book is completely told from Baileyβs POV; Iβm not usually a fan of single POV stories but itβs necessary for the plot and very well done! I have been that office drone like Bailey before, stressed out but working oneβs way up the career ladder. Bailey flips out when his childhood bully becomes his bossβ boss and he finds himself lying about being in a relationship with his roommate. Hijinx ensues when he begs his straight roommate Gordo to play the roll of his boyfriend for a corporate retreat and as Bailey tries to hold everything together, He finds himself along the way. Gosh, I wish I could gush more but it would give this charming and enjoyable story away! This is my first story by this author but now Iβm hooked!
I absolutely adored Bailey and Gordo! Bailey asks Goro to be his fake boyfriend during a corporate retreat, Gordo decides to be himself and not follow the plans. Thereβs a good amount of heat and steam. Overall, this was great, loved it. I got the opportunity to listen to the audio version of this. Toby James was a new to me narrator. It took me a bit to warm up to him but overall he did great!
I am always looking for fake boyfriend books- it's my absolute favorite trope. I'll admit I was skeptical when Amazon did the whole "books you might be interested in" thing and suggested this book for me, but, like I said, this is my trope so I immediately downloaded the novella and WOW.I. Flipping. Loved. It.I was laughing almost immediately and drawn in to the story before Bailey was even out of his morning meeting. Bailey is humorous with a side of snark that only hits during his inner monologues. He is a total type A and obviously overwhelmed from his stressful, corporate job. Gordo is the exact opposite. A laid-back, nice guy. A great listener. A total beefcake. The perfect match x of savory and sweet, these two. This story did not disappoint. I fell head over heels for both men and the villain has me wanting to throat punch the next person who interrupt my reading. I couldn't stop reading once I started! I was invested; this fake relationship was everything I needed and didn't know I was missing. I wish there was more... *Sigh* totally awesome and definitely recommending to everyone in the future.Low angst, moderate heat, HEA, fake relationship, forced proximity
