Hard to not keep reading. Unfortunately things like this still happen to women. What happened to these men is not acceptable, but…
A set in the future mystery. Oddly enough, we are getting closer to the years this author chose to write about, and it seems that some of her ideas (writing of this series started in the last century), but the books are set in the 2060's.Also, you need to know that if you start this series, the books may only come out once or twice a year, in our time, but in Eve and Rourke's world, only a month or so has passed, sometimes only weeks.I liked this book the second time around a lot better than I did the first reading.Trigger Warnings -Rape femaleTrigger Warnings -Rape-abuse-murder -maleEssentially, this is a story of what you did to me long ago; I am going to do it back only ten times worse.
I read some of the 1 star reviews --- pathetic! Many hadn't read the earlier books, and those that did, weren't able to relate to this book. All the characters of the "In Death" series don't need to be in every book, and I liked that Dennis Mira was given more development of the his character. Eve also revealed more of herself to Peabody, and realized she has a strong support group for herself. Yes, it deals with ugly, graphic violence, but it was necessary to the plot, not gratuitous. Robb writes well, and keeps her characters true book after book.
J.D. Robb is not only a master storyteller, she’s a master psychologist. She’s created two people, Eve and Roarke, with horrendous childhoods whose beginnings endlessly and therapeutically are entwined and explored in every plot-much to the benefit of the reader and society…so read, learn and empathize…
I’ve read so many of these JD Robb books about Eve Dallas that i feel like I know her on a personal level! She’s become a friend. I know these books are slightly futuristic but I recommend them to anyone who enjoys strong, believable characters and plot twists that makes you want to read one of these in one sitting!
