Life is good for Buck in Santa Clara Valley, where he spends his days eating and sleeping in the golden sunshine. But one day a treacherous act of betrayal leads to his kidnap, and he is forced into a life of toil and danger. Dragged away to be a sledge dog in the harsh and freezing cold Yukon, Buck must fight for his survival. Can he rise above his enemies and become the master of his realm once again? With an inspirational introduction by award-winning author Melvyn Burgess, The Call of the Wild is one of the twenty wonderful classic stories being reissued in Puffin Classics in March 2015.

Real

Not sugar coated fantasy. Raw and gritty. A must read. You can feel his pain and confusion. Can't go wrong with this story.

It makes you mature.

This book shows me that you are capable of anything with hope. Also it made me understand that with rest not food you can come back to a perfect state.

great read

A timeless and great read. I could not put the book down. I’m sure I will re-read this many times.

childhood memories

This book was a very quick read, but it took me immediately back to reading when I was in grade school, sitting at a desk, reading a hardcopy book and thinking that it was great to be able to read and not have to do anything else.
