Wow, this book is really life-changing and I can’t wait to read the other books. I understand now that it’s no coincidence that I bought this book 2 years ago and finally read it exactly at the time I needed the information. I feel free and peaceful and love in my heart. After reading this book it is chilling how the author breaks down everything in such a simple manner that I completely grasp the idea I had to go back two years to find my order in order to leave a review that’s how phenomenal this book was. It’s such an easy read. Everything makes sense and am now practicing not thinking and it works like a charm. This book is a miracle in itself. I’m so excited. I am going to order some for my friends and my fiancé. This is a gift that will keep on giving peace of mind, happiness and love to the people I love and want to share the information with definitely interested in reading the other books that came out after this book!!!! if I ever forget the information I learned from this book, I will definitely reread over and over again until I have mastered not thinking.

This book is a good book for anyone who wants a simple introduction to self help and improvement. Now it takes time to unlearn what you been thought, but the book tells you how. A book that more people should know about.
This book absolutely changed my entire perspective on my own life. I have recommended it to EVERY SINGLE PERSON I know. Joseph worded every word so beautifully, added the best examples, and offered the best advice.I was close to ending my life because of how much my thoughts consumed me. I am forever grateful that I chose to get this book. Thank you Joseph!!!!
This looks like a fast read but read it slowly over weeks not day/s. Let each idea settle in before continuing on. For a small book there is a tons of important information. Good luck on your journey.
A friend recommended this book to me and because I overthink everything it helped not to overthink as much and helped me to have a more optimistic look at life in general. Good and easy read with valuable information that I will use on a daily basis.
A Simple Book That Hit Me DeeplyI picked up Don't Believe Everything You Think not knowing quite what to expect, and it ended up being one of the most impactful reads I've had in a long time. Joseph Nguyen has a gift for taking a profound idea — that our thinking itself is the source of our suffering — and making it feel completely accessible and real. What struck me most is that this isn't another book telling you to "think positive" or rewire your habits. Nguyen goes deeper than that. He invites you to question the nature of thought itself, and once that clicks, it genuinely shifts something. The chapters are short and easy to digest, but don't let that fool you — the ideas are anything but shallow.I found myself pausing throughout to just sit with what he was saying. That doesn't happen often. If you're someone who struggles with overthinking, anxiety, or getting in your own way, this book will speak directly to you. Highly recommend.
This book will truly change your life. I have been stuck in a loop about many things and I constantly overthink. It was last week when I realized I had enough. I bought this book not knowing what I would learn but I'm glad I did buy it. It really helped me manage my overthinking and be at peace. Thank You, Joseph! You helped me a lot. As well as so many others who have read your book.
My names Mike this is my wife’s Amazon that we share but anyways, I was recently diagnosed with PTSD from certain events in my childhood. Since being diognosed that answer hasn’t sat well with me. It brought up a sadness and emptiness I’ve never felt before. So I seeked help within myself and started looking for answers and ways out and couldn’t figure it out. Then I read this book and realized it really is as simple as just letting go and not chasing every thought that goes through my head. And this books not a miracle that will instantly heal you or me, but the second I started applying this book to my life I felt hope, peace, and something bright within me. God bless everyone and I hope you find the answers in life you’re looking for. You matter and reading this book will help you realize that.
This book contains some genuinely useful insights about overthinking, rumination, self-judgment, and the destructive mental spirals people can create around situations in life. The author does a good job illustrating how people often turn neutral events into negative identity stories and emotional suffering. However, I think the book’s wording and philosophy can sometimes be misleading or overly broad. The author uses the word “thinking” to describe destructive rumination and self-defeating mental spirals, but the terminology can make it sound as if deep thinking itself is the problem. I disagree with that idea.Thoughtful reflection, discernment, moral reasoning, creativity, and even uncomfortable thoughts can all be valuable and necessary parts of life. The problem is not thinking itself, but becoming trapped in compulsive, negative loops that serve no purpose.I think the book would have been stronger if it focused more specifically on destructive rumination rather than framing “thinking” broadly as the source of suffering.Overall, I found the book thought-provoking and useful in parts, but philosophically oversimplified at times.
Just finished Don’t Believe Everything You Think, and it really shifted something in me. This book helped me see how often I view myself through a negative lens—and how much of my anxiety actually comes from my own thinking. What stood out most is learning that I don’t have to believe every thought that comes up. Now, when I notice anxiety, self-doubt, or even self-sabotage creeping in, I pause and remind myself: “That’s just my thinking.” In that pause, I’ve started to feel a sense of peace, clarity, and even joy. It’s a simple idea, but it’s been powerful for me. I feel more aware, more grounded, and more capable of choosing a calmer, more peaceful state of mind.
I know everyone says it but i will still say it, that i do not ever write a review about anything, But as iam getting to learn new perspectives and knowledge i have to say it’s equally as important to talk about your knowledge as it is to learn. I started reading this book at a very low point of my life, I was going thru a painful break up of a 8 year old relationship. And everything i did the thought of losing that person i once loved popped in my head and i was never happy. But deep inside i knew my potential and worth and i was hating the fact that iam sabotaging my own peace and happiness everyday. So i started doing some research on what to do, and i started meditating, reading, writing and i slowly started to realize that the pain will always be there sure but whether it should hurt me and keep away from my happiness depends on my actions and how i react to. I know this is getting long, but what iam trying to say is no matter how big the issue is in your head, your inner wisdom will allow you to find a solution if you give it the chance and space. This book has taught the burden that comes with constantly thinking and make no mistake i still think, overthink but i know just when to stop, thanks to this book. Lastly if you are constantly thinking about something that is affecting your happiness you can try reading this book and i can guarantee you that you will leave with something.
The title tells you everything!“I swear to you that to think too much is a disease, a real, actual disease.” DostoevskyA simple and easy to read book, yet vital in the central idea it delivers, I encourage you to read it, why?We are inclined to overthink, dwelling on our lives and daily events, planning, etc. is healthy in moderation. We need to plan, manage our expenses, evaluate our life, planning our future on many levels, plan for our family, we need to evaluate our performance at work, our career, etc.., however; it is extremely easy to cross the thin line between healthy planning and overthinking.Thinking leads to overthinking, which in turn leads to losing focus on what really matters, our happiness, enjoying what we have, the present moment! The books in its simplicity and flowing writing style open the readers eyes onto the priceless comparison between healthy Thought and unhealthy Thinking. This is the central idea of the book.Thought is healthy for it is “neutral observations” it is a noun it is something we have. While Thinking is “judgments we have about our thoughts” it is a verb, it is action, action that leads to anxiety, stress, and suffering (when you read you will understand more). The author style makes it easy to absorb the ideas from his life experience firsthand on the “disease” of overthinking. He provides a nice simple guide at the end of the book.
Easy read, don't hesitate to buy to gain or regain peace in your life, in order to open the path you want for your life. Like the author Joseph Nguyen said in the book, the concept of not thinking is simple, but not easy to do as humans. He says, thoughts create, thinking destroys. So true!I also appreciate the summary at the end and a guide with steps to non-thinking.I believe this book found me. It was only a week after a breakup. I didn't hesitate to buy the book because I knew I was about to go on a journey of questioning everything that went wrong. I am so glad I followed my intuition. Not to say the breakup wasn't painful, but I managed it different and didn't get too far down in sadness and perpetual toxic thinking, how it can be after a breakup. And this was a 2nd chance after being apart over a decade. So I thought this was the one for me, finally. If nothing else, the author's explanation made me realize just how much our negative thoughts take you down a rabbit hole of pain, blame, shame, and just unnecessary suffering. When you consciously realize it, you know it makes no sense and you truly can end it. However, most of us just keep feeding the negative thoughts. Easier said than done, but truly a simple concept we each have control over and should not allow our minds/thoughts to control us.With that said, I think this book is a natural transition to meditation too, because if you can turn off negative or aimless thinking, you open your mind to endless positivity and clarity your mind can take you. I noticed this about myself...so it validated what was already happening with me. My mind is most clear in the shower, and I would have so many ideas or clarifying thoughts come to me at that time. And to have more of that, outside of the shower, I must catch and end the over-thinking and negative thinking.Towards the end of this book, I just broke down in tears, because the way Joseph described how we must have faith in the unknown, take a leap of faith and be courageous to get what we want--that spoke volumes to me, because it was my thoughts that robbed me of my faith and courage and why I feel I'm not where I'm supposed to be in life. But shifting my thoughts will make space for the possibilities and what I want in my life.So yes, like he said in the beginning, I am different after reading the book. Different in a positive way, trusting the universe and my non-thinking.Thank you, Joseph Nguyen!
