Long ago, the world was destroyed by gods. Only nine cities were spared. Separated by vast wilderness teeming with monsters and unimaginable dangers, each city is now ruled by a guardian--royalty who feed on mortal pleasure.
Born with an intuition that never fails, Calista knows her talents are of great value to the power-hungry of the world, so she lives hidden as a courtesan of the Baron of Archwood. In exchange for his protection, she grants him information.
When her intuition leads her to save a traveling prince in dire trouble, the voice inside her blazes with warning--and promise. Today he'll bring her joy. One day he'll be her doom.
When the Baron takes an interest in the traveling prince and the prince takes an interest in Calista, she becomes the prince's temporary companion. But the city simmers with rebellion, and with knights and monsters at her city gates and a hungry prince in her bed, intuition may not be enough to keep her safe.
Calista must choose: follow her intuition to safety or follow her heart to her downfall.
Breathtaking suspense and scorching romance meet in this immersive new fantasy from a mega-bestselling force, Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Hints of possible post apocalyptic origins, this world is interesting. Some obvious twists and the excess of explicit encounters typical for this author. No idea if the series continues. As usual, no clear progression or lead into what may or may not come next.
Another excellent tale from Jennifer L Ramen trout and another frustrating cliffhanger (I expected no less).I can wait to see what happens to Lis and Thorn because the tension, danger and mystery is definitely turned up to 11
I love this book! And I am so excited to see what will happen next. I hate that I have to wait!
She did it again! If you are a fan of Jennifer Armentrout's writing style and her stories that she brings to life, this new series will be a very promising read. the beginning of the story was a little slow as she needed to set the groundwork for this story to really lay out the way it should. We immediately meet our FMC, Calista aka Lis, as a younger version of herself and one of the MMC's who our main character calls her '"highborn" who is initially shrouded in mystery. He saves her and her companion Grady and from that point forward she considers him her savior who she will never see again. Little does she know they will continue to cross paths as they are destined to get to know each other quite well. Calista does not know who or what she is as she never knew her parents and had to learn how to survive with Grady's help. She has foresight and has to trust her intuition which is good in some regard but could land her in trouble as she could be accused of using bone magic. Throughout the twists and turns of the story Calista is trying to figure out what she is with her only clue being that she is star born and that she feels this strange connection to Prince Thorn, her savior from the beginning of the story. Can she trust him or will he end up being her downfall?
Another book report bestie review! So, I try to start with the negatives. There was one spelling/ phrasing error I noticed, but I don’t think it was super glaring (I’m just neurotic). One other instance, there was a description of a position that I reread like 6 times but I was right and it didn’t make sense. Other than that, it was a touch gory for me personally, but nothing that made me want to quit it. After a quick break and a snack, you bet I went right back to reading! I guessed at some of the plot but there were some twists that had me THROWN! Also, spice level is a solid 3/5 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ for me. I’ve heard rumor there will be a second book, which will probably make its way onto my TBR!
