Feathers so Vicious: A Dark Fantasy Romance

Holy crap that was a ending I did not see coming! Such a good book! I could not put it down.

TW are there for a reason. Lots of triggering stuff, but a compelling story that I enjoyed. I was able to visualize everything - even the stuff I wish I couldn’t. That’s what I consider a good book. I can’t wait to read book 2.

Very dark themes….im not sure how I feel about this book. Definitely not a happily ever after like I was expecting…just a happy for awhile, but not really, but maybe, haha just kidding kinda way. But yea…5 stars for making me binge-read with no stops except potty breaks lol.

Well I mean I stayed up past midnight. I screamed at the end of this one and then devoured the next. The hype is real. I'm not a big "why choose" girlie, and I honestly kept thinking that Sebian needed to go away cause Maylr is king shadow daddy and you can't help but also feel bad for him. I felt this way til the end but then you will see why Sebian was necessary. I skipped some of the more graphic passages just cause those are triggering but I didn't need the details to know what happened to Maylr in the dungeons. I now have a book hangover and probably need to read something sweet to recover.

I read this 2-Book Series in weekend. i had no expectattions but let's be real..that cover is amazing.I love the fluid storytelling from each character's POV never leaving confused or jarred from chapter to chapter.Galantia was somewhat believable and there were times i side-eyed her but i ended up kind of liking her by the end. Malyr was like a fine wine which had a great backstory.i loved Sebian--my only complaint with his character was the incessant use of "sweetheart".i will say i wish more of the charactersz were fleshed out more. There were times they seemed 2-dimensional. There was so much room to explore.i gave 4-stars for small editing lapses and a paragrah in book 2 has a character in a cell with Galantia and then suddenly he isn't And not on purpose.Overall, i was engrossed and invested. i liked the ending ... even though part of made me sad.

Wow this book had me hooked from the first chapter and I did not want to put it down! This was a palate cleanser from having read too many fantasy books in a row and this one was so much fun to dive into. I understand why a lot of people were recommending this for steamy dark romance and glad to finally have read it!

I can't believe I waited so long to read this book. I fell in love with Sebian almost immediately. He's complicated, but sweet. Malyr is even more complicated. They're both so damaged that I can't help but to think i can fix them. Oh and sweet, naive Galantia... I knew exactly how this book was going to end and I still wanted to cry when it did. Beautifully written book that will tug at every heartstring you have. Check your triggers!

I’m giving this 4 stars purely based on entertainment. This book was on the darker side but I did enjoy the read. I see why people don’t love it, due to its contents but that is what comes with dark fantasy! Excited to read the next book.

I come from reading Kaylie Smith's and Keri Lake's books (TOTALLY RECOMMEND THEM!) but this book left me speechless on a whole different level... The title put me off a bit, but I decided to give it a go after coming across some fanart on Instagram lolSPOILERSI loved feeling the interactions so... "realistic". I loved the fine line between love and hate (how it just didn't turn into love from one day to another, and how the Ravens' definition of love is different and complicated), of how the captors had to restrain themselves to not "hurt/spoil" Galantia even though they clearly wanted to because well, they wanted her (and found some ways to put their hands on her regardless), and how complicated that dynamic was (Galantia depended on them, after all... what else could she do but give then some "favors"?)How she... experiences love (and more hate) here, while held captive, and how she accepts and even likes some really crude circumstances because... well, it's all she's even known or she just masochistically likes them, period. I loved that their dynamic (Galantia Myrl Sebian) flowed so well... until almost the end of the book. WHAT A GREAT PLOT TWIST. and then the ending?! Oh my God... I can only hope Myrl will crawl to Galantia in the next book. If he doesn’t, I don't really care (though I loved/hated him), but I do hope that she keeps in contact with Sebian at least... Beautiful and entertaining! And... disturbing  and arousing.

Didn’t care for Galantia. I prefer stronger FMC and she was always broken down and her worth was based on others or their acceptance. It was a very repetitive theme of nobody loves me. The why choose scenes were decent but MMC was off putting overall and kept me from enjoying. He was just too broken and vindictive for me. That said, I would still read next book just to see if she tears him to shreds. -Mel

This book is best summer up as “Addictive torture”. If you like super dark romance, then this duopoly might be your jam. As mildly violated as I feel, I’m sure as heck going to read book two, and the redemption arc better be epically worth it. (I may go crawl into the fetal position and cry for a bit first, j/k).

I was pleased with the VERY end, but leading up to that, I’m not sure I was entirely pleased with the storyline. The main male character is one of my least favorite male characters I’ve ever met— I can totally get behind a morally grey character, but this one was just beyond. His behavior was so unacceptable and disgusting, it never truly made sense why Galantia would come around to him. He never really redeemed himself or his behavior, and so their connection didn’t feel very authentic or believable.And even the “better” of the two men was still not great— he got better of course, but he still had pretty massive character flaws that I had trouble overlooking or understanding the draw to.If this was a singular book, it would’ve been a 3. But because it’s a duet and I am going to read the second book (I HAVE to know how she handles these loser men), I’m going to give it a 4.

The story, dark, cold, leaves the reader longing for more.Up until the very last page. Liv put JUST enough little snippets of detail, to leave the reader able to predict some things. But not quite enough to know for certain. Definitely things that made me go “oooh I know where this is going!” But then it doesn’t, not until the very last page. Excited to start book 2. This book was recommended by a thread on Reddit, but I was told not to expect any form of heroism. That it’s all about the villains. But even the villains, are just victims. There really isn’t anyone that isn’t a victim.I am sooo curious if my prediction of the white feather sent in, will feed into the story as I predict it will.As Galintia’s mother (I probably butchered the name) never wanting her to run or fall-DID pan out my prediction. For this, I absolutely love that the author gave little bits, to give the reader a chance to use their imagination and think about the character development. 5 stars! Bravo!

This is the greatest story ever told. I finished this book in less than a day and was completely enthralled through its entirety.It took me awhile to come around to this book. My thinking was crows??!!! Where are the vampires /witches / werewolves / faeries? Crows aren't sexy! Birds are gross. Boy, was I wrong! (birds are still gross though sry)I was hoping this would be a WHY CHOOSE? situation, but in the end I hope it's a CHOOSE YOURSELF AND BURN EVERYTHING ELSE TO THE GROUND.I can't wait to see who Galantia rises up to be.(lots of wistful sighing and fanning myself)

I put this book/series off for so long as I’m incredibly picky and everyoneee and social media was telling me I’d like it, there’s no way they would know that! But I’d see blurbs or art work and ask which book is that? TBR List! Following! Then I’d find out it was COR popping up AGAIN. Like WHY do you keep haunting me I don’t want to read you, you can’t make me. Why are you so freaking popular!? Well I did. Finally. Please don’t be me, read it. ASAP. It was WOVEN, into the fibers of my being. Something new but with everything I love in a book and things I don’t know I loved in a book. Ignore my name pleasantly satisfied this was so satisfying it filled holes I didn’t know I had. I need a room based solely on this book. I see why people are up in arms about special editions now. I will be purchasing a set. As someone who can see plots foreshadowing and spoilers coming a mile away? I am so happy to have been surprised over and over. I know no re-read will be like the first time but it’s so freaking expertly WOVEN in you could read it backwards if you wanted to. Read it sideways, pick a couple chapters. Re read the whole thing and still be drawn into new details. They were there but they mean more and differently so as someone who has never wanted to reread a book in her life? I’m stubborn and this surpasses it all.

I went into this book with absolutely no clue what I was in for.At first, I didn’t think I was going to like it.Further in, I was riveted and thought I must need therapy.Even further in, I was shredded apart by the intensity of the psychological journey this book took me on. This book made me confront things I’ve buried deep. It made me really look at them and acknowledge them. It was painfully personal for me.Malicious. Such an accurate Jekyll and Hyde portrayal…One may ask, was the intensity of some of these situations in this book necessary? They were ugly, sickening and demented….but they were so accurate to life. I rarely give 5 stars. I’m surprised to be giving a book this dark such accolades, but the TRUTH portrayed in these pages was so spot on, the plot was great, characters excellent and the world was a magical experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A dark, fantasy romance that I couldn’t put down. It’s MFM…sort of. It’s full of angst and though it’s not necessarily a slow burn, there’s a lot of enemies to lovers buildup like you would see in most romantasies. I love Sebian’s sweet words of praise. I love Malyr’s tortured fight to not fall in love. Galantia is strong and stubborn and set in her ways. She slowly falls for both men but watch out for the freaking cliffhanger!! I have a feeling she’s going to get on my nerves most of the next book. The writing was really good and I’m immediately starting the next.

So this is ultimately a star-crossed lovers story, although it isn't obvious at the outset, with a Heathcliff-like tortured soul male character (Malyr) and an innocent Catherine character (Galantia). He must torture her because his soul is so dark, and he can't see any way out of it because they are natural enemies -- their families are enemies from two different sides of a war. Malyr's attention comes in the form of humiliating and torturing Galantia at every turn, yet Galantia is both drawn to and wary to him, like a moth to a flame, possibly searching her ultimate destruction through his attention. She enjoys his attention, even when it's so painful.What makes it confusing is that there a third character, Sebian, who is Malyr's best friend. Sebian's focus is on saving Galantia from the worst of Malyr, but his motivations are not that beneficent as well. Sebian is a charmer and rake. Between the three characters, there are many opportunities for threesomes, but ultimately Serbian's third side of this love triangle both facilitates and hinders Malyr's relationship with Galantia. It's interesting to watch the three of them as a study in contrasts and pushes and pulls.This book is a favorite on many readers' lists. I had a hard time initially getting into the first three chapters. It was possibly the worldbuilding, but also the author's style of writing that it took some time getting used to. But once i got past that, I'm really glad I read both books.*Careful for triggers, including sexual assault, non-com & dubcon, public humiliation, sex with multiple partners, anal sex, knife play*

I loved this! It was dark, angsty, sexy, and fantastical. All the things I want in a solid dark fantasy romance. I had the absolute pleasure of reading an early copy of this. The author did not disappoint with this one y'all! I cannot wait for book 2! This new world is so fascinating and mysterious and we are just scratching the surface with book 1. Galantia, Malyr, and Sebian are such an interesting trio and I'm looking forward to seeing where things go, because THAT ENDING Y'ALL!!!! I thought the writing style was excellent, everything flowed very well. The dialogue and descriptors used felt appropriate for the "time" of the piece. The pacing was good, never felt like there was a lull spot or dragging. There are jumps of time from present to past in terms of POV, but it wasn't confusing at all. I found the breakups of the story to be appropriately-timed and well-worked throughout. Most of Galantia's POV and all of Sebian's are telling their story in the present time and Malyr is only telling his part of the story in the past. Which I know sounds weird, and I thought so too at first. And for a little while I was like, "What the heck is Malyr thinking right now??? We never get his present POV!" But fear not! It is by design! I don't know how she did it, but the author gave us everything we needed from Malyr through the eyes of Galantia and Sebian in terms of present time story. Once I finished, I realized that it was an incredibly genius way to write his version of events. You're getting his side, but in a way that doesn't spoil things and keeps you guessing every step of the way. Malyr is a broken and slippery raven and he doesn't give a lick about anything other than revenge. He's that villain that stays true to the title all the way through. Sebian is just as broken, but somehow, he's come out on the other side differently than Malyr and he's that villain that you're going to fall in love with instantly. Galantia is the kind of FMC that finds herself in a tough situation, but sure as heck is gonna make the best of it (and enjoy herself along the way), even if she does end up coming off as somewhat naive at times. I guess you would categorize this as a why-choose, however it definitely felt more "love-triangle-ish" towards the end...I don't want to give too much away. But based on the ending (and sneak peak of chp 1 of book 2) the why-choose element may be coming back in...we shall see... The spice in this one was pretty good, although there was surprisingly not as much as I thought there was going to be. That's not a complaint at all, just an observation. But I also think this first book was somewhat of a build-up for the characters and their story, so I can definitely see that ramping up in book 2. I did enjoy Galantia's pursuit of her own desires eventually, and trying to make lemonade out of lemons with her situation, so to speak. I also adored Sebian's sweet-as-heck heart for Galantia, despite him being the "villain". There were moments throughout when I thought, "Nah, he's not gonna do that" or "He's going to change/be different" and I was proven wrong...completely wrong! HAHA! But the twists were so dang good! And then I thought "I wonder if this *one thing* is gonna happen...nah, that's probably not possible, right??" But shoot, it's fantasy...and they do whatever the heck they want! AND THEN IT HAPPENED!!!!! I was yelling so much in excitement and shock at the end! Needless to say, that ending messed me up in the best way...had me with my mouth gaped open for a solid hour afterwards. So basically I'm recommending this book, 1000%. I desperately want to know what happens next and can't wait to read book 2. Please mind your triggers though, there are some darker pieces in here that might be tough for some. But still an excellent story. Happy reading!
