From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of These Violent Delights and Our Violent Ends comes the "fast-paced...impressive" (Kirkus Reviews) second book in the captivating Foul Lady Fortune duology following an immortal assassin in 1930s Shanghai as she races to save her country and her love.
Winter is drawing thick in 1932 Shanghai, as is the ever-nearing threat of a Japanese invasion.
Rosalind Lang has suffered the worst possible fate for a national spy: she's been exposed. With the media storm camped outside her apartment for the infamous Lady Fortune, she's barely left her bedroom in weeks, plotting her next course of action after Orion was taken and his memories of Rosalind wiped. Though their marriage might have been a sham, his absence hurts her more than any physical wound. She won't rest until she gets him back.
But with her identity in the open, the task is near impossible. The only way to leave the city and rescue Orion is under the guise of a national tour. It's easy to convince her superiors that the countryside needs unity more than ever, and who better than an immortal girl to stir pride and strength into the people?
When the tour goes wrong, however, everything Rosalind once knew is thrown up in the air. Taking refuge outside Shanghai, old ghosts come into the open and adversaries turn to allies. To save Orion, they must find a cure to his mother's traitorous invention and take this dangerous chemical weapon away from impending foreign invasion--but the clock is ticking, and if Rosalind fails, it's not only Orion she loses, but her nation itself.

Loved the color scheme for this book! It was the last book I had to buy in the series and let me tell you, the plot twists do NOT disappoint. Had me rolling on the floor laughing but also screaming in fury. Love Chloe Gong as an author and this book was amazing!!
Foul Heart Huntsman is an intensive, emotional, and satisfying conclusion to Chloe Gong's Foul Lady Fortune duology. It picks up right where the first book left off, throwing Rosalind, Orion, and their allies into even more danger as they navigate espionage, betrayal, and war in 1930s China.Rosalind continues to be a compelling protagonist, torn between duty and personal redemption. Orion's arc is heartbreaking yet beautifully written, and the supporting cast - especially Ceila and Silas - adds depth to the story. The romance, political intrigue, and action are all perfectly balanced, with twists that kept me hooked until the very end.Gong's writing is immersive and cinematic, making every moment feel vivid and real. If you loved Foul Lady Fortune, this book will not disappoint. A must-read for fans of historical fantasy, spies, and slow-burn romance!
This series will forever live in my heart as one of my favorites. I love the initial tie to Romeo and Juliet made me quickly fall in love with the series but the continuation of the story from Rosaline's POV kept me reading. I hate when series draw out the main characters stories too long and I get bored and wonder about other characters. With this series Gong does a great job of keeping the story alive through exploring other characters. We still get to check in on all the characters but the focus shift helped the story stay alive.I also love the tie in to Chinese culture with the small Shakespeare connection. I loved everything about this series and the characters that lived in it.
Conspiracy and war! Not just ONE romance, but THREE, plus very interesting side characters with their own back stories and skillsets! Loved the details of the world going on around them and the various feelings that come with being not only involved in wartime but being raised and hard trained as spies and assassins. Not overly spicy, so safe if you're looking for more of the spy/thriller aspect.
• 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 •𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: ☆☆☆☆☆ 5/5What a great ending to this world, for these characters. This was such a wild ride that had me gasping out loud many many times. I loved how there were things I didn't see coming at all. This world was so well thought out, I was just in love. I honestly wish there was more from these characters, but hey let's be honest after everything they went through, they deserve their happy ending!
