Theodosia and Drayton show their courage by rescuing a couple of accident victims in just the opening scenes of this exciting book. The investigation is dangerous and exciting.
This is a part of the series I bought for a mystery reader. She loves this series
I was a bit disappointed in this one. It was not her best writing. It was almost like it was a beginners book. Not the way she usually writes. It reminds me of a manuscript that didn’t get accepted so she went back and added the characters from her newer books and wrote around the old story. Also Drayton was much older when the series started. I understand that she probably didn’t think the series would go this long, but making him in his 60s is a bit much, middle 70s would be much better. I found myself skimming over lots of it. In the past I was always surprised at who done it. I admit I never try to figure out who it is, but this time I did , as soon as the character was introduced. I didn’t like that she was all over the place, not like she is now. Again like a beginner story. She has always been a better detective than this book. Again like a beginner writer of mystery. I hope the next one goes back to her old self. Both character and writer.
Absolutely love this author and will always purchase her books from Amazon because they are always delivered perfectly!!! Her tea shop mystery series is wonderfully written and so much loved!!!
Another charming cozy set in Theodosia's tea shop. She takes some risky chances to investigate the murder of a bridesmaid. The old Southern atmosphere lends interest.
