I read "She gets the girl" in January 2023. I instantly fell in love with everything about the story, characters, setting. I was able to read it all in one sitting. I simply could not put it down. I laughed, cried, gasped, felt giddy inside. It truly became one of my favorite books and I can be quite picky with what I add to my shelf. When this was announced I couldn't believe we get so lucky to dive back into this magical world. Thanks to the authors for sharing their sweet story once again. I am sooo excited to know what my girls have been up to. Ialso love how cute and little it is compared to the first one.
If you want to read a good short Christmas novella this one is it.I didnβt know going in This was the second book in this series but it didnβt seem to matter much. The story gives enough information into the backstory that gives you an idea of the characters history. This story will get you into the holiday season
Even better than She Gets the Girl.Joy to the Girls is sweet, charming, funny and packed with cheer. The setting is perfect for a Hallmark style Christmas but make it sapphic.I really enjoyed getting to know where Molly and Alex ended up. This felt like a natural progression. Still a happily ever after, but one that makes sense.Least favorite and most confusing scene was the snowman building, or completion? It felt like the timing was jumbled and couldnβt quite imagine what was going on there.I would love another novella to be honest.Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my ARC of this delight.
4βοΈ πΆοΈ level: kissing, suggestive scenesFavorite quote: βCora, Iβm pretty sure sapphics would literally kill to get a lesbian scene that hot in a movie,β I say.βTropes: found family, holiday romance, kept secrets, oblivious to love(Light spoiler)summary:This story continues to expand upon Molly and Alexβs relationship while also turning our attention towards Cora and May who donβt realize how perfect they could be together. When the friend group decides to take a trip over Christmas vacation together the clock starts ticking. Cora is in the same position Molly once was, having feelings but not knowing how to βget the girlβMolly and Alex decide to help her, but are having troubles of their own. Both are dancing around what they want to say/ ask each other but will these bring them closer together or drive them apart?
