A Human hybrid and an Alpha Were claw against the bonds of fate in the highly anticipated companion novel to the New York Times bestselling Bride.
Serena Paris is orphaned, pack-less, and one of a kind. Coming forward as the first Human-Were hybrid was supposed to heal a centuries-long rift between species. Instead, it made her a target, prey to the ruthless political machinations between Weres, Vampyres, and Humans. With her enemies closing in on her, she has only one option left--if he'll have her.
As Alpha of the Northwest pack, Koen Alexander commands obedience. His authority is so absolute, only a fool would threaten his mate. It doesn't matter if Serena doesn't reciprocate his feelings, nothing will stop him from keeping her safe.
But power-hungry Vampyres and Weres are not the only threats chasing Serena. Sooner or later, her past is bound to catch up with her--and Koen might be the only thing standing between her and total annihilation...

So this was a great read, i loved Koen and Serena. The slow burn was delicious— some parts on both sides were frustrating as we learned about the wolf side of things (trying to hide the spoilers). It felt like a true journey for both fmc and mmc to explore their feeling and innate abilities. The cult theme was an interesting add to the story. The YEARNING was absolutely incredible and deliciously written. I feel like it was drawn out a little bit, but the ending was very good. Not a 5/5 read for me like Bride was but Ali Hazewoof is absolutely a top tier Were trope writer.
Not at all disappointed with the second installment of this duology. Greedily I want more of this world and these characters. Ali Hazelwood delivers her quintessential whit and charming humor. I gobbled up this story with the same fervor as Bride. Mixing Hazelwood’s brand of banter with a supernatural twist has got to be my favorite combination ever.
This was such a fun read! I adored the banter between the MMC and MFC. The overall plot kept unrolling and I love how quickly Serena found a groove in the pack! One if my favorite aspects of this author is the chapters are in the MFC pov, buuuuuut the chapter headers' are in the MMC pov.
I did really like this book, even if it was a tad long. The beginningPush pullDid feel like it went on longer than it needed to, but I did, like the pace of things for the most part. While bride is still my favorite of this series, this book was still a really good time. Would highly recommend reading it if you like your hero to be possessive and your female to be witty. One of my favorite parts about this book, though, was the friendship between misery and serena... Friendship, ten out of ten would read again.
"Mate" is one of my all-time favorite books. The storyline is heaven and the characters are complex. The way Ali Hazelwood writes sexual tension is sublime and I've never read it's equal. I read this book on the Kindle app while I listened to the audio from Audible. It was such an immersive, multi-sensory experience. I ADORE everything about this book!
