this was such a heartfelt story and Tina tells us so much about her and her life. you learn so much and view things in a different light. MUST READ if you are a Beyoncé fan!

Enjoyed reading this memoir, sometimes emotional, sometimes painful and sometimes full of joy! Nice to have a glimpse into her life and what made her who she became.

So grateful that Ms. Tina decided to share her story with the world. I know this was for her grandchildren but I felt that I have gained much needed wisdom about life from this book. Also, the story humanized these public figures that we sometimes forget have feelings and trails in life. Ms. Tina is an excellent matriarch who has made tremendous sacrifices for her family to be where they are today.

I've fully enmeshed myself into this book, the pattern and detailing of the design attracted me immediately. I thought it was a real painting. The book dabbles into her life as a young girl into a grown woman, although I am not finished this book felt like a love letter.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! Miss Tina took us on her life journey in a way that made the reader feel as if they were present. Her vulnerability and transparency into her childhood, marriages, and motherhood made the book very interesting. The book captured my attention right from the beginning. It was hard to put the book down. There were many things that I learned about this wonderful woman as I read the book. I would highly recommend.

This book doesn’t just speak about motherhood lit breathes it. Every page is a quiet echo of late nights, whispered prayers, broken routines, and the sacred chaos of raising a soul while still learning to hold your own. It reminds you that motherhood is not a title it’s a transformation. A soft unraveling. A loud becoming. Through tender essays and vivid moments, the author doesn’t shy away from the exhaustion, the ache, the grief of old selves lost in service of love.

I always love hearing a black woman’s story. The beginning of the book is truly captivating, I appreciate the historical facts that were weaved in throughout her life. And I thoroughly enjoyed her realness, authenticity and transparency. Although I’m a member of the Beyhive, I appreciated that this book was about Tina and not Beyoncé. Disappointed in how the media has promoted this as a peak into Beyoncé’s life, I felt there were so many other stories about Tina worth sharing.

It was great to learn so much about Mrs. Tina's background and family life. The amount of courage and tenacity she's shown throughout her life were so encouraging. I enjoyed reading about her trials and independence, her ventures, the way she cares for others, and just her overall story. This book is one that I would highly recommend to others.

Matriarch by Tina Knowles is one of the best memoirs I've read in a long time. It's a longer read (17 hrs audio) but so worth it. I bought the print book for my collection and because it had lots of color pictures and the book is worth it for the photos alone. I enjoyed learning about Tina Knowles upbringing, and it gave a lot of context for who she is today. Being from Houston I enjoyed the confirmation of things I'd always heard about but never really knew for sure until now hearing it from Tina. Unlike some memoirs, she does share some tidbits that I'd never heard before so it drew me in and it made me appreciate that they did a great job of keeping some things private as we all should have the option to do. She managed to share her truths about people in her life, including both husbands, without sounding like a victim and she also presented people as multidimensional, having both positive and not great attributes. I love how she shared just enough of other people's stories but she leaves them the space to recount their own stories if they choose to. I won't tell any of her story because she's masterful at doing that herself, but it made me appreciate the fact that she really did delight in being a mother and that has been her greatest joy in life. I always think about a lesson from any book I read and from this book I learned that the role of a parent is to provide each child with the nurturing they need and it's not necessarily the same thing for all your kids. She took pride in loving Beyonce and Solange but also Kelly and Angie in a unique and deep way and as mother I can understand the sincerity Beyonce expresses when she talks about what her mother means to her.A few other things to note. The cover art is superb and as I mentioned the color photos in the book are just awesome, this is not a cheap book. It's on the level of everything else Tina Knowles has touched over the span of her career. I loved the audiobook. The narration is good and made me feel like we were just friends chatting over coffee or wine because some parts were definitely wine talk. If you are a fan of Beyonce's, you should read this book. I always thought Tina was a dynamic and interesting woman and this book elevated my opinion of her. I highly recommend this book!

I closed the final page with tears in my eyes and hope in my hearthope for a life where motherhood and personals dreams coexist, not compete.
