Six down-on-their-luck people with links to the world of crime writing have been invited to play a game this Christmas by the mysterious Midwinter Trust. The challenge seems simple but exciting: Solve the murder of a fictional crime writer in a remote but wonderfully atmospheric village in north Yorkshire to win a prize that will change your fortunes for good.
Six members of staff from the shadowy Trust are there to make sure everyone plays fair. The contestants have been meticulously vetted but you can never be too careful. And with the village about to be cut off by a snow storm, everyone needs to be extra vigilant. Midwinter can play tricks on people's minds.
The game is set - but playing fair isn't on everyone's Christmas list.

Good holiday mystery
Wow! I can't believe how this book ended. I was totally shocked and surprised. I didn't expect how this book ended at all. Im still sitting here in disbelief but it was still a amazing book. I enjoyed reading it immensely and wouldn't mind reading more books by this author. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone!!
Clever concept and mostly done well. Some scenes were written really well and made the book and the mystery engaging. Other passages sounded as if they were written by someone who had no idea how to write characters who felt natural. The clues were delightful, so that made up for the weak spots. I could have done without the ending, but if the author was going for clichΓ©, he achieved it. Overall solid work, I'll probably find his other titles.
The Midwinter Trust in north Yorkshire has invited 6 down on their luck contestants to spend Christmas playing a game to solve a fictional murder. As they all arrive they are transported from the train station up the mountain by the new chauffeur who will be part of the game. Now the contestants are being picked off and the murders are very real. The weather has trapped them and hopefully there will be someone alive when it clears. A tired plot but well written and fun to read.
This book was so cleverly done. You feel like you stepped into a real life clue game filled with intrigue and mystery as you try and find the clues and solve the who done it mystery. The action was intense and the bodies start to pile up keeping you on edge as you try and solve the game. If you are a fan of Agatha Christie or think of yourself as an amateur sleuth you will love this book.
