Fantastic read. I literally picked it up and didn't put it down until I was finished. Having met Amber in the 70's I am not at all surprised at what she has achieved. I grew up in the time when the prevailing attitude was to keep women "barefoot and pregnant". Seeing what Amber has achieved not only in the face of that attitude but being dyslexic also is a testament to her. I found myself both smiling and nodding in agreement as Amber describes her journey. I strongly urge any woman or man who feels intimidated in today's world to read this book and take heart. Amber shows clearly that determination and positive attitude are the keystones of success. Brava Amber!
Amazing book
For those women/people that have been told "you can't", I strongly suggest reading this inspirational, poignant memoir. It is written with heart, soul and wit. Amber Brookman proves that no matter the obstacles in life with perseverance and savvy that "you most certainly can". Brava!
Interesting story of what it took to succeed in a “man’s”world, filled with great insight and funny stories of the journey she took along the way.
At a time when it was so much harder for women to get hired in a man's world, let alone for one who failed a job aptitude test, not only did Amber succeed in this regard, but she rose to the top . On one level, the book is a vital commentary on what it took to get there and how -a must for anyone looking to move up in the corporate hierarchy. On another level, it is a fascinating story about what happened to her along the way- family, marriage , sports , modeling and more. ... A delightful read!
