Rosalie is assigned as Alexei’s lawyer while he’s sitting in prison for murder. From their very first meeting, there’s this dark tension between them. He’s intense, dangerous, and definitely throwing out red flags left and right—and yet you cannot look away.Rosalie's trying to keep things professional while aiming for partner. Meanwhile, Alexei—fresh out of a 7 year prison sentence for a framed murder—is immediately all over her. The man is bold, demanding, and completely unbothered by boundaries! This was a very morally black MMC. Like… maybe even too black for me, which shocked me, because I usually eat that up. But here’s the thing—I was fully rooting for him to burn down everyone who hurt her, which wasn't always the case in this one.The Snow White twist was super intriguing. It definitely had the mafia politics, but with a unique magical element that made it stand out from the usual dark mafia romances. The side characters were solid and played a big role toward the end, though I would’ve loved a bit more emotional depth with them.If you're looking for a dark, spicy romance between a do good-hearted lawyer FMC and a dangerously obsessed MMC, definitely check this one out—just don’t skip those trigger warnings. Even though this is book 2 in the series, it can be read as a standalone. I personally would like to check out more couples in the series, so this won't be my last book by this author. As a dark romance reader, I highly recommend reading the trigger warnings first, as some scenes definitely pack a punch and might take you by surprise.If you enjoy dark romance with suspense, moral complexity, and a hero who doesn’t take no for an answer, this one is definitely a must add to TBR! !

Alexei, please stay exactly where you are because I am running straight to you and offering to be your alibi for life 🙂↕️🤭This was my first Rebecca Zanetti book, and I was very happy with this read! When I first saw the blurb, I thought, okay, this is A LOT. Mafia + a dark Snow White retelling?? I was curious how that combo would work, but surprise—it did! Alexei and Rosalie’s story actually pulled it off.Let’s talk about Alexei. That man is not even morally grey—he’s entering pitch black territory and I’m just standing there like, “yes, please.” He’s a devil in a suit and I love him for it. Do I need therapy? Possibly lol. But we ride till dawn.And Rosalie! A brilliant lawyer with a sharp mind—paired with an ex-con. Oohh. The chemistry was palpable. I really enjoyed her character, though I wish some aspects of her arc (like her job?) were clearer. A few loose threads there!!As for the fantasy element, it was interesting, but honestly, the book could've stood strong even without it. Maybe it’ll make more sense once I dive into the rest of the series?Overall, this is was fast-paced and deliciously dangerous. Definitely worth the read!
I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. I went in thinking I’d get some dark romance tropes and maybe a few mafia power moves, but One Dark Kiss came at me with obsession, morally gray everything, and a plot that unspooled like a lit fuse.Alexei is unhinged. Not in the over-the-top caricature way, but in the cold, calculating, “I will burn down the world and smile while doing it if it gets me what I want” kind of way. And what he wants is Rosalie from the second they meet. I swear the man imprints like a wolf in a paranormal romance but with more violence and fewer boundaries. It’s kindof terrifying and weirdly addictive.Rosalie, on the other hand, is smart and ambitious, and while she tries to keep her footing, she gets swept into Alexei’s storm before she can blink. I loved how capable she was. She’s definitely not perfect. She second-guesses herself and lets her heart lead her straight into chaos, but she’s written in a way that makes you want to root for her.The world-building is original, as well. There are crystals that power social media empires, mafia-run tech empires, and a pink Victorian house with seven old men who may or may not be retired assassins. It sounds bonkers, but somehow it works. There’s just enough magic and fantasy to keep things interesting without pulling focus from the romance or the revenge plot.It’s dark. It’s hot. It’s morally questionable. There are belts involved. Also murder. And a cat. And I’m not saying I’d make the same choices that Rosalie does, but I get it. I really get it.Is this book perfect? Absolutely not. Some parts are completely unhinged. There are moments where you’ll be yelling “GIRL, RUN” (all caps). But you won’t want to stop reading. And honestly, that’s the magic of it. Such an original retelling that you'll want to add it to your TBR if that's your thing!
Ms Zanetti has written another page turner. I enjoyed all the plot twists. This book will keep the reader's interest and want to keep reading. This book keeps the same characters as the first showing the girls friendships are strong and supportive of each other
