I love Hannah’s books so much, this was a fantastic read and made me feel so much while reading it! The pops back and forth from the past to the current were perfectly placed, the emotional moments had tears welling up but were exactly what was needed at the time. The chipmunk was hilarious, I squealed regarding the paper airplanes, and Caleb was so freaking funny with the group assignment I had to take a break because I was laughing so hard.Overall, this was a masterpiece in my opinion and I loved getting to see Win and Bo again plus Gus! This really tied the duology up in a nice bow! I can’t wait to see what world we’re introduced to in Hannah’s next work — so many adventures to come and I’ll be there along for the ride for sure!
10/10
Out of the Woods by Hannah Bonam-Young is a heartfelt, funny, and refreshingly honest look at marriage. After 17 years together, Sarah and Caleb attend a wilderness retreat to reconnect—and what follows is an emotional, sometimes hilarious, journey of rediscovery. The setting adds charm and tension, perfectly reflecting their internal struggles. Bonam-Young writes with warmth and relatability, capturing the complexities of long-term love with humor and heart. I loved watching these two navigate both nature and their relationship. It’s sweet, sincere, and had me smiling through every chapter. A beautifully crafted 5-star read I won’t forget soon!
Round it up 3.75⭐I truly enjoyed Reading about some of the struggles, married couples face and the steps they take to work through them. It was refreshing to read about characters that experience some of my challenges. I highly recommend it.
Every time I pick up one of her books, its never about something I think I'm interested in. And then I get so invested in the story and feel so many emotions and immediately start a reread just to stay in their world. I love books where the characters feel realistic and just make sense together. Sarah's struggles with getting stuck in grief and not liking how her life looks but not knowing how to change it is unfortunately relevant. And hearing her work through the anger and confusion gave me hope. Also, I really do just love romance books where therapy plays a role. Just for fun, I made note of some of the journal prompts and plan to use them while working through my own confusing feelings and not useful expectations for myself. Just, thank you Hannah. You're an incredible storyteller and I'm grateful you've chosen to share that with us.
