We know what they’re capable of, we 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵 their chemistry ignite in book one, and yet—pages and pages of yearning, proximity, longing, betrayal & heartbreak in book two. It’s a 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴 in tension. There’s almost no spice on the page, but honestly none was needed. Rune and Gideon together are passion incarnate and it pours off the page even when they’re 𝘯𝘰𝘵 touching—sometimes, especially when they’re not.Rune continues to be one of my favorite heroines—fierce, loyal to a fault, willing to burn herself down if it means saving someone else. Her sense of justice isn’t performative; it’s deeply personal. She’ll right a wrong even when it costs her everything. And Gideon—this man—sworn by duty but RULED by love. He tries to be logical. Finished both books in about 3 days, idk I love them! And I cried lol. But they are also a frustrating pair. Talk about enemies to lovers! This is textbook
While there was a bit of repetition throughout the book. I immensely enjoyed reading this romantasy. The enemies to lovers continues and the magic felt less corny in the second book.
I love this story! I love that there’s very little delay to getting to the action. I do think the ending was a bit hasty - like all the conflicts resolved rather quickly, a little too quickly - but nonetheless this book was intriguing, easy-to-read, and suspenseful. *spoiler* Seeing Gideon and Rune find each other, choose each other, again and again was *chefs kiss* amazing!
This is probably the best series I have read all year. I originally chose this book because kindle recommended it for their reading challenge as it’s not my usual choice but; this series IS WORRH IT!!! Witch hunter and witch team up to stop an evil witch queen and an evil commander in hopes for a better world and end up falling in love!!! Yes yes and yes
I devoured this. I waited for a while before finishing this series because I didn’t know if the second book could be any better than the first and I didn’t want to get disappointed. Surprise though? No disappointment. This was everything I’d hoped it would be. The ending felt a bit rushed for sure, but I wasn’t enraged about it. If you loved Heartless Hunter, definitely read Rebel Witch. It’s a worthy conclusion to The Crimson Moth series.
It was a nice ending to the duology, although a little predictable and the lack of communication was frustrating at times. But it pacing was great and it was hard to put down.
Loved this book! Didn’t see some of the twist and turns it took but I was captivated from the 1st on to the end of this book. The ending was just perfect.
Love, love, loved this story! It kept u on the edge of ur seat. I couldn't put it down once I started! And it was easy read and described the characters perfectly. I was so happy to have rune and Gideon finally acknowledge there chemistry.
This book was long and so packed, but not in a bad way at all. Each chapter was exciting! I really enjoyed these books. I was surprised how both books really focused primarily on the relationship than the fantasy plot, but had enough fantasy to keep things exciting. I loved the banter and the back and forth of the unknown. Really fun read!
Omg I’m so sad to have finished this series. It was so good from the very first page of book one to the very last page of book two. The hate love relationship between the Fmc and mmc was perfect I loved every single minute of it. The Fmc was a cry baby she was strong and helpful and wanted better for her ppl. Yes did she have a break down and try to leave that life yes but you would too if you went thru what she did. Was the mmc a brute and hard to handle at times yes but he softened up and became loving. Their love was basically forbidden but as they say love conquers all and it did conquer al. I found this series to be pure perfection but that’s my opinion. Also I want to put it out there I figured out where the Fmc fitted into this story for the villain witch before it was said and as for seraphine I knew what she was as soon as Antonio started talking to the Fmc about the ancient ones I knew who she was. Was I still shocked yes I was. So my recommendation is to definitely give this series a try, I promise you won’t regret it
Really good book. Predicted a piece of the ending but overall kept me entertained and when I wasn’t reading it I wanted to go back to it. I wish they would have gone more into the seering abilities since it was brought up a couple of times but we didn’t really get any closure on that.
Immediately started reading book two after book one, and though I survived, I think I left a part of my heart within the pages of this beautifully written magical dualogy. This book was just as good as the first!! The Crimson Moth was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend that anyone and everyone read these books :)
I read a review on this that said the first book walked so that this book could run and I 100% agree! I was WAY more invested in this book than the first. Lots more plot. I loved how this book ended and how they wrapped up the story. Definitely would recommend if you're looking for a witch/witch hunter book!
This was better than the first book. It would be even better if the character dialogue of them taking to themselves was cut out. It seemed like the same thing over and over again. It got a bit tedious and whiny. I would have liked a peak at their future instead of where it cut off at the end. All in all, the book was. not bad. 3.5 stars.
📖 Bookish ThoughtsI really wish we had more duologies, there’s something so satisfying about a two-book series done well. Rebel Witch was a solid conclusion overall, but book two didn’t quite hit the pacing mark like the first. It started off strong, and honestly, I was enjoying it even more than book one at first. But around the 40% mark, the momentum dropped. It started to feel bloated with filler scenes, and the story dragged more than it needed to.Rune also felt a little off to me. I understand she was grieving and working through a lot, but it was frustrating to see a fierce FMC suddenly become timid and unsure in ways that didn’t feel true to her character. And let’s be real! The number of times both she and Gideon got caught? Please. I was rooting for them, but they seriously needed better escape plans!That said, I did really love how the book wrapped up. The ending was creative and gave us a satisfying HEA. I just wish we’d seen more emotional processing, especially around Alex’s death. When the first book came out, I was hooked, and it was agonizing to wait and find out what became of our heroine Rune Winters after suffering betrayal and the end of her world as she knew it. Crimson Moth was face paced, expertly weaving love, desire, fear, and the idea that good can conquer all throughout its many pages. Several characters from the first book appeared again, especially the beloved captain, Gideon Sharpe, and I loved his character evolvement as the story continued. Rune is cunning and always steps ahead and it was fun to see her run circles around everyone else. There were a few unsuspected twists and I’m glad they snuck up on me. If you loved the first book, you won’t be disappointed with the ending of this duology.

The story was great and it made for a fun finale to the duology! We love a good HEA <3 my only complaint was that the willful misunderstandings got repetitive. It felt like the whole first half of the book was “they did this thing that shows they love me, but they couldn’t possibly, so I’m going to find a way to misconstrue it as the exact opposite of love”. And, like, it was fine the first time, but it was a CONSTANT back and forth like that for both characters. I don’t mind a little frustration as a reader, but that amount of frustration had me rethinking whether I liked the book at all. Thankfully, I persisted and was rewarded with a happy ending. But I really expected to give this 5 stars after book 1 and am bummed to knock a star off this one.Content warning: sexual assault and sexual abuse, both on and off page (but not gratuitously written, in my opinion). Blood (it’s kind of imperative to the story, but worth mentioning). Fear. Trauma. PTSD.

I love when the second book of a series is just as good if not better than the first! Rebel Witch was everything I wanted from this series and more!Heartless Hunter ended on a cliffhanger and I was afraid we might have a long period without seeing Gideon and Rune interacting with each other. I was pleasantly surprised to see how soon we had scenes with them together and how much of the story they crossed over even though their motivations were opposite of one another. The banter was BANTERING in Rebel Witch and it filled my Enemies-to-lovers heart with how well it was written!The world-building and magic systems aren't complex, making this a great series for someone who wants to dabble in fantasy and doesn't know where to begin. I also love that the magic used in this series has a cost and a symbol for its use so there's some thought put into how it should be used and the timing and consequences for its use.Politics and too much power are a big theme of this series and they played heavily on this second book. Being forced to make difficult decisions with very little options forces you to really look at what is most important.I was really happy with the ending although I would have changed one tiny little thing!Some favorite non-spoiler moments:"Next time, you're going to tell me the entire plan upfront!""If I'd told you the entire plan up front you wouldn't have agreed to it!""Men with guns are chasing us Gideon.
