"I live for the dream that my children will be born free," she says. "That they will be what they like. That they will own the land their father gave them."
"I live for you," I say sadly.
Eo kisses my cheek. "Then you must live for more."
Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he toils willingly, trusting that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children.
But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and lush wilds spread across the planet. Darrow--and Reds like him--are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class.
Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the legendary Institute, a proving ground for the dominant Gold caste, where the next generation of humanity's overlords struggle for power. He will be forced to compete for his life and the very future of civilization against the best and most brutal of Society's ruling class. There, he will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies . . . even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.

It took me a second to get into this just because there is a lot going on world building wise - but everything quickly falls into place and then I couldn’t put it down.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Wow. Just wow. This book played like a movie in my head! Every scene, every line, every twist had me completely hooked. Pierce Brown!!! THE MAN THAT YOU ARE!!! Thank you for letting us inside your brain!I’ll be honest, it took me a bit to get through the first few chapters, but that was totally on me. I was in a reading slump not really giving any book the attention it deserved. Once I finally sat down and committed to reading Red Rising, I was locked in!Dystopian worlds are my favorite! Give me a corrupt government, rebellion, and someone bold enough to tear the system down and I’m all in.And Severo… oh my goodness. He really snuck up on me! 😉 He’s fiercely loyal, cunning, and makes all the right moves. He’s easily my favorite character.
This is a book that I would read again. I have few books that I would read again and again. I enjoyed the story and mourned the losses. I look forward to seeing the continuation of the story- good and sad.
Red Rising is an incredible story with amazing characters that make you want to join the fight. I will read anything Pierce Brown puts out because I know it will be given an incredible amount of attention and detail to bring me on a journey every time. Bloodydamn good book!
I thought this book was amazing! The world and society they are in is so well done. Everything about the Institute made this book so special. The characters also shine in this book, and Pierce Brown makes it very easy to either love or hate a character. The action was also great! I highly recommend this book for new readers, I give it a 5/5 and I am ready to read the next one!
