loved this one. fast paced and a fantastic story. Amie has done it again!

A quick sci-fi read. Loved the graphic audio aspect of this, and loved that it was them against the clock the whole time. It was a unique premise over all, and the twists were predictable at times, but still really engaging. Solid listen!3/5

I wondered how could they fall in love in such short time, but when it’s the right person, under the right circumstances, well, I guess it is possible! Loved the characters and the way their personalities and skills complemented each other so well! Definitely a good short read.

I've loved everything I've read from Amie Kaufman so far so I was super excited to read this YA sci-fi story! It definitely lived up to my expectation, and I was just so happy to be back in space.Red Star Rebels was a super fast-paced novel even though the story only consists of 8 hours, so there was no time for wasted prose or boring filler. I loved the main characters and how different they are and their interactions with each other were great. The romance itself was very quick to unfold since the timeline is so short, but it was still very sweet.This was a super fun and exciting story and I can't wait for whatever else Amie Kaufman has coming

Thank you Penguin Random House for the arc via netgalley. This book acts like a space opera with high stakes, moral gray areas, and characters who feel like they’re constantly one bad decision away from disaster. It starts right off with the drama so draws you in. Really enjoyed the romance too.

This was so good. Will-read-it-again good. It’s way too short. I’m devastated that it’s over. But there’s going to be a sequel, right? RIGHT?!?I love Amie Kaufman’s space adventures. They never fail to keep me entertained and so wholeheartedly obsessed. I hope she’ll write more.I love Cleo’s sass and big brains. I am in love with Hunter’s gentle charisma and his desire to be honorable. I really wish there’s going to be a sequel. I want more adventures with these two. And I would love to see them in their lover’s era. What can I say? I love love.I ADORE this book. I stayed up late finishing it and every second was worth it. I already miss Cleo and Hunter. I guess I’ll just read it again…

"Red Star Rebels" by Amie Kaufman is a sci-fi adventure about a stowaway girl and the richest boy in the galaxy, racing against the clock to outwit a gang of mercenaries.Thank you Bonnier UK Audio for the ALC.Opinions from this review are completely my own.Listening to this audiobook was such a great experience.The narration is multicast and there are also background noised and sound effects that made me feel like I am part of the action.The story takes place in 2067 when people can live on Mars.The pace is fast and there no dull moment.Hunter and Cleo have 8 hours to stop an explosion.They also manage to fall in love during that time.I like writing, the space set up and the overall atmosphere of the story.Also, the characters are well developed and the alternating POVs work very well in the story.I would definitely recommend this if you like fast pace YA Sci-fi books.

The queen of YA Sci-Fi is back with a new thriller-like story that had me at the edge of my seat! ❤️It’s been many years since I read These Broken Stars which I love, and this book reminded me a lot of that one in the best way. Amie Kaufman always writes a perfect mix of sci-fi and swoony romance that I really enjoy.The pacing was perfect, alternating between action-packed scenes and more quiet parts where Hunter and Cleo get a chance to know each other and bond.The tone also oscillates from lighthearted to deep, since in addition to the action and romance we learn about the sociopolitical background of the world where the story takes place.I loved how crafty and smart our main characters are. Hunter is good with software and Cleo with hardware so they’re perfectly matched to problem-solve their way out of their situation.Some of the traps they set for the mercenaries reminded me of Home Alone, and afterwards I read the author herself mentioning that movie as one of her references 🤣I really enjoyed the way the romance evolved. There’s insta-attraction but we also see Cleo and Hunter slowly get to trust and know each other throughout the story.A bit of suspension of disbelief is needed if we stop and think the book takes place in a span of a few hours, but I promise the author makes it work. It’s an intense few hours for our characters 😆Thanks Hot Key Books for my copy! I had a great time reading this one. I'm not sure if this is a standalone but I wish we'll read more stories in this world!

Not overly long, but interesting, engaging and fun to read or listen too. As I expected from this author the story was as good as expected and I always appreciate her endings. Basically another great book from what is probably at this point my favorite author.

The story of Red Star Rebels takes place over the course of a single day (approximately eight hours) and follows the alternating first-person perspectives of Hunter and Cleo.Hunter is the son of the family who owns GravesUp, a major corporation that initially settled on/terraformed Mars, initiated by his grandfather. After his father's death and not hearing from his mother and sister for years after his parents split, Hunter finds it's time to head to Mars and reclaim his rightful place as head of the corporation. He just...has to sneak his way there.Cleo has a history of crime. She smuggled her way onto Mars, living illegally at Pax station. Only the rich are able to live on Mars, and she believes that Mars living opportunities should be more equal. Also, she hates GravesUp because they are (technically) responsible for the death of her father, which sent her and her mother into sprawling debt.When an evacuation order is initiated on Pax due to an air contamination risk, Hunter finds himself unable to flee because he isn't registered in the Pax system, therefore he cannot get onto one of the shuttles. Cleo is there illegally, but she has street smarts to keep her alive. She is on her way out in a space suit when the call for help comes in, and it's the rich young son of the GravesUp corporation. She sees it as a chance at money or perhaps a request for registration on Mars.As the two aim to escape, they see people entering the base, and there's some kind of countdown. The evacuation is not what it seems. The two must work together to outsmart the criminals, save the base, and stay alive. And over the course of eight hours, the two might grow closer than they anticipated.Leave it to Amie Kaufman to execute the span of a novel in the course of eight hours and still have phenomenal storytelling craft, exquisite characterization, and plenty of twists and turns in the plot. The story is well-written, full of action, and thoroughly engaging. Building the kind of relationship that Kaufman does with Cleo and Hunter in the span of time they are together takes exceptional skill, as there are many time-frame plots that are similar that generally fall flat. This was extremely well-rounded and made for a fun and engaging adventure. Plus, space! It was fun to see the scientific elements that are well researched in the astrophysics, as is Kaufman style.While the novel is certainly self-contained as a stand-alone, I feel like there is enough established that there could be a whole new novel afterward. Maybe there will be. Who knows? All I know is this is a must-read for science-fiction action lovers, and I cannot wait for Kaufman's next novel.

Red Star Rebels is a YA science fiction novel. It’s 2067 and the Mars colonies are available for those that can afford it. When the grandson of the richest man in the universe and a hitchhiking stowaway discover a hidden undercover plot on Mars, can they work together in 8 hours to save the colony from ruthless mercenaries?This was an interesting read. I enjoyed Hunter and Cleo’s characters and their adventures in this book. I liked the Martian sci-fi story and world building around the colonization of the planet. I did personally struggle with the romance aspect of this story as this book took place over 8 hours. It wasn’t enough time for me to realistically establish a romantic relationship outside of a trauma bond, but that’s a “me” issue and not a book issueOverall this was an enjoyable four star read. I did enjoy the story and the world building, even if I struggled with the romantic timeline. This book had some darker elements, so please check triggers if you’re sensitive. This book did have a romantic subplot with YA levels of on page smut, so one flame for spiceIf you’re a fan of YA sci-fi with high stakes adventures, forced proximity and opposites attract romance, then absolutely pick this one up!
