"After thirty years of friendship, Pam dreams of her perfect retirement with Nancy, Shalisa, Marlene, and their husbands--until their husbands pool their funds for an investment that goes terribly wrong. Suddenly, their golden years are looking as dreary as their marriages. But when the women discover their husbands have seven-figure life insurance policies, a new dream forms. And this time, they need a hitman. Meanwhile, their husbands are working on their own secret retirement scheme and when things begin to go sideways, they fear it's backfired. The husbands scramble to stay alive--but soon realize they may not be quick enough to outmaneuver their wives"--Provided by publisher.

twists with some calamity

The story was casual, with some twists. There was humor (some legit chuckles out loud) and calmity in a semi-cartoonish/sitcomish way also. Very easy and enjoyable read.

nice easy read

Enjoyed the twists and turns of this story. Great character development. Laughed out loud a couple of times, great for any married person!

An entertaining dark comedy

Not was I was expecting, but in a good way. I thought this was going to be a lighthearted comedy, which it was, but it also was part mystery, some thriller, and great bits of dark humor. The book is essentially misunderstanding after misunderstanding, with coincidences and very random circumstances thrown in. The gist of the story comes down to four long-married couples who stopped communicating and grew apart, and all the plot points follow from there. With such a large cast of characters, this book could easily have become overwhelmed with their components. Instead, the author kept it simple with differentiated characters and easy storytelling.Overall, an entertaining read.
