USA Today Bestseller
From the founder of Money with Katie, a leveled-up finance guide for ambitious women everywhere—and a rallying cry for a new money movement
Women experience money differently than men do. In the United States, women have only 55 cents for every dollar of wealth held by men, are more likely to end up in poverty following a divorce, and are less likely to retire with the resources they need. What can women do to build wealth and claim financial power in a system that wasn’t designed for them?
Katie Gatti Tassin, personal finance writer and host of the popular podcast The Money with Katie Show, has built an energized following of smart, ambitious women seeking a deeper understanding of the financial issues that affect them. In Rich Girl Nation, Tassin deconstructs the unique challenges women face on their journey to financial freedom, offering context and nuanced guidance on money matters including:
• Performing a budgetary “Hot Girl Detox”
• Proven salary negotiation strategies that effectively navigate gender bias
• Investing frameworks that make you the leader of your financial life
• How (and why) to create a prenup
• Preparing and saving for childcare efficiently
• Retiring independently (and in a tax-optimized way)
Packed with scrupulous research and Tassin’s trademark wit, Rich Girl Nation uncovers the real story behind our financial system and shows us exactly how to thrive within it while we fight for broader change. It’s time for women to unite in unapologetic financial autonomy with the net worths to show for it—and to change the playing field not just for ourselves but for the next generation of Rich Girls, too.

Years ago I read that men accumulate more wealth because women focus on saving money while shopping and paying bills and men focus on investing. That article woke me up and pushed me out of my couponing comfort zone.Rich Girl Nation is a great introduction to personal finance written for women. It’s a good listen as an audiobook. It’s a must read for any young women - especially those thinking of getting married. There is also plenty of interesting information for women at any stage of life.Katie closes the book talking about how it’s important that we also understand how our economic system works so we can advocate for change. The United States runs on the unpaid labor of women. We are the caregivers and the most likely to end our lives in poverty. This week I heard a now familiar story about a newly widowed woman who had no idea how her husband was running their finances and whose husband had not had a will. It does not have to be this way. We need to talk about these things and plan together.Katie recommends that we “bring a friend” into the discussion of personal finance. Consider yourself invited.
I loved the ease of reading this book. The amount of information that Katie gives is not only incredible, it’s actionable. I was investing in EFTs within minutes of finishing her book. I am already planning to give this as a graduation gift to my niece. We need more rich girls!
I am a big fan of the Money With Katie podcast so I had high expectations for this book. Katie did not disappoint! This is a book for women of all ages. I particularly enjoy Katie’s sense of humor as she critiques some of the cultural norms around finances. As a woman who works in the field of financial counseling, focusing my work on helping young professional women , I will recommend this book to my clients as an additional tool to help them develop a better understanding of how to plan for a solid financial future.
Amazing book! I never thought I would be so captivated by a book about finances but wow! Such a page-turner!
Love this so much I passed it to a friend. Highly recommend.
