What do you do when your life is turned upside down and is full of secrets than could get you killed? Wren faces this dilemma when she is forced by the people who want to kill mutants like her to join their army. But they donβt know she has powers until she is betrayed. But will she betray them first? This is a high action, espionage fantasy with a secret love story included. These characters become familiar friends that take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. And the author leaves you with one last set of emotions - frustration and anticipation - as you have to wait on book 2 and no release date yet.
I loved the twists and turns in this terrific adventure. Adding a romantic plot line made it more fun to read. It kept me up several nights much later than I wanted.
Iβve read a lot of fantasy/romantasy recently and have noticed a lot of similar plot points. This book keeps some of my favorite plot points but the direction the story goes is unexpected and wonderful to read! I love the romance but I love even more that itβs not the main plot point. The story holds up very well without it. The romance is the cherry on top to an engaging story.
Its ok so far. The constant switch between first name and last name is getting annoying. Like just pick a damn name. Theres already 20 plus characters its not making it easy having to to remember 2 names for each. It would be fine if it was on occasion, but they switched between first and last name almost every other page.
4.75 βοΈ3/4 πΆDespite people saying that this was written by AI or "copied" other books, I'm convinced y'all dont read. Not every book is 100% original, and this did remind me of other dystopian novels, but I thought the fantasy element of it was original. The FMC is sassy, headstrong and reckless. The MMC is publicly emotionally blank, privately breaking down his walls for her. Can't wait for the next one.
