I read a lot of books but then there's that one that takes your breath away. It gives you ALL the feels. It is so well written that you feel the pain, the daunting emotions, all of it. Especially if you see YOURSELF in it. I feel like this is the fat girl's manifesto. I didn't start out as a fat girl but I definitely evolved into one and understood every bit of this book. There were moments in the reading where I stopped to process and groan with the memories.Thank you Ms. Renee. I felt seen and appreciated. We are valued and we bring much to the table. I pray that one day, the cruelty and shaming will cease but in the meantime, we will continue to make our worth known, seen, and appreciated. I wanted to wrap this book in a warm hug and not let go. I wish I could give it more stars, AND I learned so much about Oregon.
I listened to this story and found it very interesting. It's good story for people who have kids verging on adolescence. The author addresses how we view our bodies; how to be healthy, and how to impart healthy values to younger people.
I didn’t know what to expect but this was a great read. The author’s storytelling is really good. I just expected more from the ending.
Excellent!! I’m a huge fan of Rene Watson. This book is relatable on many levels. Women of many different walks of life and experiences will find this book enjoyable
A story woven into and through aphorisms for life. Ms. Watson story telling encourages me a septuagenarian white woman to trust my inner voice and be me, whether accepted by those who I value or not. In being me, I reassess the ‘value’ of those people.
