A bit predictable. Slow moving at times. I would not recommend it unless you want a quick read and skim the boring parts.
This story was a unique look into how bad things can happen to good people due to one bad decision leading to another. Mystery. Danger. Intrigue. It's all there.
This book is very slow developing with many unnecessary, unrelated details. For me, it was quite boring until the last few chapters. It definitely does not have the suspense, “can’t put it down” pull of many books I’ve read.
Something in the Water was a good read—well-written, with strong character development and a gripping beginning that pulls you in quickly. I found the story engaging enough to keep turning the pages, and I appreciated the author’s attention to detail and pacing. That said, I think I went in with my expectations a bit too high based on all the rave reviews. I was hoping for more suspense and unexpected twists. While the plot was interesting, it didn’t quite deliver the level of tension or surprise I was looking for in a thriller.Overall, a solid debut and worth a read, especially if you enjoy character-driven stories—but don’t expect a heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat experience.
I’ve been reading some great suspense novels lately, and I Something in the Water is one I really enjoyed. The plot is creative and kept me engaged throughout. On the downside, I didn’t completely buy the way it ended—it felt a bit too convenient, and I’d like to think human nature isn’t quite that fickle. But maybe I’m just being naive. Still, it was an entertaining and thought-provoking read.
