In the descent to the underworld, a bride of the sun must choose between the light of her redemption... or a dark love that defies the gods themselves

Mische lost everything when she was forcibly Turned into a vampire - her home, her humanity, and most devastating of all, the love of the sun god to whom she had devoted her life. Now, sentenced to death for murdering the vampire prince who Turned her, redemption feels impossible.

But when Mische is saved by Asar, the bastard prince of the House of Shadow with a past as brutal as his scars, she's forced into a mission worse than execution: a journey to the underworld to resurrect the god of death himself.

Yet, Mische's punishment may be the key to her salvation. In a secret meeting, her sun god commands her to help Asar in his mission, only to betray him... by killing the very death god she'll help resurrect.

Mische and Asar must travel the treacherous path to the underworld, facing trials, beasts, and the vengeful ghosts of their pasts. Yet, most dangerous of all is the alluring call of the darkness - and her forbidden attraction to Asar, a burgeoning bond that risks invoking the wrath of gods.

As her betrayal looms, the underworld closes in and angry gods are growing restless. Mische will be forced to choose between the redemption of the sun or the damnation of the darkness.

Captivating

Loved isn't the right word for how I feel about this book. The story is captivating and unexpected. The characters are multifaceted and have depth and the ending has you praying the gods and goddesses you don't have to wait too long the next book!

Is Asar moving on My Book Boyfriend List?

Okay I am just going to jump straight to the end and say WTF! I need my Mische and I mean STAT! I am much like Asar, I am NOT a patient woman and I am absolutely not taking this whole cliffhanger very well. But to go back to the beginning I’ve always loved Mische and craved to know more of her back story as she always seemed so closed off on expressing anything remotely about her past. With it all u folding I can see why she’s chosen to either keep to herself or memory blocked it out. It’s a lot to take in. She’s lived such a different life that was forced upon her at such a very young age. Breaks my heart for her.Until she is forced up Asar who is choosing to use her in a different way that happens to be the best thing that’s ever happened. Although I can’t say she’s had an enjoyable time on this adventure since it seems like at every turn someone or something is trying to kill them. I am exhausted as heck for them. These two work so seamlessly together it was a no brainer when the sexual chemistry off the charts. They both deserved to know what true love feels and looks like. It just better not have been cut far far too short. If possible GET THE NARRATION! It’s so good ad the inflections had me full on chuckling with their banter nonstop!

just so much…

I had a really hard time keeping up with this book and getting into it. It had a lot going on but it almost seemed like too much and yet it felt like it went on forever. It’s not a bad book and I love this author, but I think too much was crammed into this book and it made it very hard to read.

No words, just feelings

I was completely hooked by the vibes in this book, dark, eerie, and still so masterfully told. If I had any doubts before, they’re gone now. Carissa’s mind is pure magic, and I’ll be devouring every brilliant thing she gives us.
