Dive into a world where love is as dangerous as power--and nothing is ever as it seems.
Welcome to Weatherstone College...
Don't walk the halls late at night.
Don't disturb the ancient magic.
And don't, under any circumstances, ever trust a spellcaster.
When my magic bloomed at twenty-two, the last thing I expected was to receive an acceptance letter to the most prestigious witch college in the world. It's not that I don't have magic. It's just...unpredictable. But with Weatherstone a part of my family legacy, I'm determined to live up to their expectations.
A task that's almost derailed on my very first day when I come face-to-face with Logan Kingston, the son of my father's enemy. I'm warned to avoid the powerful spellcaster at all costs, but apparently Logan did not receive the same memo. The more time I spend around him, the more I crave his unsettling attention, and as hate flirts with obsession, I'm left wondering if there's another side to the decades-old feud between our fathers.
On top of that, Weatherstone is not at all like I expected. Built on the ancient blood of necromancers and battle, the magic here is as unpredictable as mine, and I sense a dark energy stalking my footsteps. When a monster attacks me, I have no choice but to turn to the strongest warlock in our school: Logan.
After all, to fight a monster, I'll need a monster.

Paisley is accepted into the #1 magic school. Her dad is a professor and all her siblings go there. Usually I don’t really care for YA but since it’s at a college I thought why not. On her first day she learns of a blood feud between her family and the Kingstons. The families used to be close. Logan Kingston transferred to Weatherstone. Coincidence…, I think not. I didn’t like how everyone brushed her off about the monsters. They think Logan is the “bad guy” from day one but he saves her every time. I listened to the whole book in one sitting. I thought it was fun. I went into it thinking it would be a series so I wasn’t really surprised when everything wasn’t figured out by the end. I’m excited to read the next book.
I grabbed this book because the sprayed edges were stunning, and I'm so glad I did—the story was a fantastic surprise! This is a perfect dark academia romantasy set at the elite Weatherstone College. It immediately introduces high tension when the FMC, Paisley, comes face-to-face with Logan, the mysterious spellcaster she's been warned to avoid. Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic is a proper slow burn with undeniable chemistry and angst. The plot is fast-paced, focusing on Paisley trying to master her unpredictable magic while dealing with threats tied to the college’s deep and powerful history. The world has a great dark edge and a constant sense of lurking danger. I loved the mystery underpinning the story, which kept me turning pages quickly. It’s an easy and highly addictive read that nails the magical university vibe.If you enjoy a book where the heroine has an immediate, morally grey enemy who is also intensely protective (and seriously hot!), and you appreciate a college setting with an old, dark atmosphere, this is definitely one to pick up. A solid four stars, and I'm already desperate for the sequel! I gave the rating 5 stars because of the cover and edges of course!
First and foremost, I have to say the book’s cover is stunning. For years, I’ve done all my reading on my Kindle, but something in me longed for the nostalgia of holding a real book again — flipping through the pages, breathing in that paper scent, and getting lost the old-fashioned way. I even found myself pausing mid-read just to admire the beautifully etched artwork within its pages. The story itself was genuinely entertaining. Paisley is such a sweetheart. I almost found myself jealous of her — not in a negative way, but because she’s surrounded by such a loving, supportive family. Her sisters, brothers, parents, and even her friends are the kind of people most of us yearn to have in our lives. The spicy scenes were few, but mighty! My only small disappointment was that Logan and Paisley didn’t interact more often. I wanted more of him — to know his story, his thoughts, and more about their connection.I also loved Weatharstone. The world-building was rich and descriptive, making it easy to imagine life as a student there. The author did an excellent job painting a vivid setting that felt magical and immersive. And oh, that cliffhanger! The irony made me laugh — especially when Paisley herself mentioned how much she hates waiting for a next release. Girl, same! I’ll be eagerly waiting for the sequel, no doubt about it.
“To fight a monster, I needed a monster.”4 ⭐️Paisley is the youngest of her family of witches & warlocks. Finally feeling her magic stir, she’s accepted into Weatherstone College, a prestigious university, where she will learn to perfect her affinity. But there is something dark looming in the shadows & it’s not just the incredibly powerful & incredibly hot spellcaster, Logan, aka her sworn enemy. As Paisley begins to uncover secrets, she must team up with Logan because danger is lurking around every corner & someone wants her dead. What to expect:✨ Who hurt you?🧙 Spice✨ Slow burn🧙 Magic college✨ Elemental magic🧙 Enemies to lovers✨ Dark academiaThoughts:If Harry Potter and Wednesday had a weird (more mature) book baby … I loved it and I can’t wait to read more. I just know there’s going to be some jaw dropping secrets unveiled in book 2!
4.5 ⭐️A nice quick easy dark fantasy academia. With less than 350 pages, we get a decent amount of world building. I absolutely love the FMC 's name- Paisley. The fact that this story has a main character coming from a happy family and finding another at school is refreshing. I hope we find out more about her and Logan's childhood in the next book. The cliffhanger was interesting. I eagerly wait for book 2.
