Discover your strengths and learn how to use your greatest natural talents to get the most out of your life.
DO YOU HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO USE YOUR STRENGTHS EVERY DAY?
Chances are, you don't. All too often, our natural talents go untapped. From the cradle to the cubicle, we devote more time to fixing our shortcomings than to developing our strengths.
To help people uncover their talents, Gallup introduced the first version of its online assessment, StrengthsFinder, in the 2001 management book Now, Discover Your Strengths. The book spent more than five years on the bestseller lists and ignited a global conversation, while the assessment helped millions discover their top five talents.
Gallup then unveiled a new and improved version of its popular assessment -- StrengthsFinder 2.0 -- language of 34 themes and much more. While you can read this book in one sitting, you'll use it as a reference for decades.
Loaded with hundreds of strategies for applying your strengths, this book will change the way you look at yourself -- and the world around you -- forever.

Este libro lo compré para la universidad, no tenía ninguna esperanza en él pero es maravilloso lo amé y no pude parar de leerlo. Recomiendo.
I ordered a used copy of the book for a class and had two assignments based on taking the strengths assessment. New copies of the book come with an access code to be used to take a roughly 30-minute strengths assessment. Unfortunately, the access code that came with the book I ordered had already been used, which made the purchase pretty meaningless. The book gives you helpful information about your assessment results, but if you haven't taken the assessment, the book is pretty pointless.I requested and received a refund for the purchase, then ordered it on Kindle. The access code arrived separately via email almost immediately after the Kindle purchase receipt email. The code worked perfectly, I took the assessment, learned some things about myself, wrote two essays on the experience, got full credit on both assignments. Yay!The only reason to buy this book used is if you've already taken the assessment and know your top strengths. I think my strengths assessment results were pretty accurate, although it took me a while to understand that a few of my unique characteristics weren't just quirky, they could actually be considered a strength, if I simply choose to accept that perspective instead of trying to hide those odd quirks. Like any type of assessment or personality quiz, it's not perfect or always completely accurate, but it can be helpful way to learn more about yourself. Recommended (as long as you buy a NEW copy only in order to take the assessment).
This book is quite simplistic and valuable. When I returned to college as an adult this book was a requirement in one of my business classes. It really does nothing but have you go on line and answer a survey that takes very little time and based on your answers comes back to your five greatest strengths. The book is so incredibly accurate that based on one of my strengths it told me I am probably the type of person who collects baseball cards, which I have done for over 40 years. There wasn't a single question about cards in the survey. My wife and I have since bought each of our children one so that they could take the survey before they finished high school in hopes that it might help steer them towards a career that although they might not know it could be something they are actually quite interested in and could do quite well. Much better then having them figure that out in there third year of college when they decide they are majoring in the career field. Highly recommend this book to anyone with high school students, or even themselves. How well it will completely analyze you is absolutely amazing and the book clearly explains each of your strengths to help provide you with an insight to yourself. Well worth the money!!!!
The book doesn't have anything to help you find your top 5 strengths without you taking an online assessment. You need a unique code in the book in order to take the online test. So a used copy won't help you here.If you are going to buy a book, I would recommend buying the paper copy. Once you take the test online, you can download anelectronic copy of the book that you can load into kindle or epub reader. As of this writing the hardcover copy is cheaper than the kindle version. The report you get after the online assessment is which 5 strengths are your top ones ranked. The text in the all the reports is verbatimto what is in the book except for a section of new text which in my opinion does not add much. The web site make it sound likeyou will get so much more in the reports, but you don't.If you can figure out what your 5 strengths are, then just borrow a copy from the library and read the description and actionfor the strengths that apply to you and save your money as the reports are not worth having once you know what your strengths are. That being said, the 34 strengths are overlapping so it may be difficult to pick out the best 5 and rank them without the assessment. The 5 strengths from my assessment are spot on, but ranked in an order I would not have anticipated. I would not bother payingextra money to get the entire 34 strengths in ranked order. You probably can figure out which ones are absolutely not you basedon the description in the book, and the rest you can ignore as the whole premise is to work on your strengths and not your weaknesses. My opinion is that books are to be shared so that knowledge can be shared. Unfortunately, this book is not one of them. Each individual has to pay to gain knowledge. Gallop certainly has the rights to do it, but unfortunately not every member of societycan afford to pay to be assessed. Hence 3 stars.
I enjoyed the book. It's easy to read and I thought the assessment is good. I noticed a lot of the negative reviews highlighted that this was same as some personality tests. It's not a personality test. It's to help you find what you're really strong in. The other negative reviews are that you have to buy the book in order to take the assessment. So yeah, they want to make money and that's how they do it. That said, typically people go into business to make money and so I expect to pay SOMETHING. The book isn't even expensive. I paid $15 for it. That's not a lot of money. There are other tests out there that cost a lot more. I feel like I could hand this to my college aged daughter and she would find some value it in without taking the test. BUT I would like her to take the test though. So here's why it helped me. First, it was the shot in the arm I needed as I'm finishing school, feeling a little burnout in my current position, and am trying to figure out my future. I'm very introspective and pretty much know my strengths. What this is helping me do is clearly understand and articulate my strengths to others. There are aspects of this book that are "stating the obvious" but I look around work and I see associates and leaders who don't have a clue. So, while this might not be a book for everyone, I thought it was worth every penny and will suggest it to others, especially those who can't quite put their finger on their strengths.PS. - if you are so offended about giving your information, then give false information. It's not THAT big a deal!
