"When former spy Maggie Bird retired to the seaside hamlet of Purity, Maine, she settled in for a quiet life with breathtaking views. But enemies from her past soon threatened to destroy everything. Maggie survived, thanks to her wits and the collective intelligence of the Martini Club, the circle of ex-CIA friends in her cocktail-sipping book club. Their handiwork, however, caught the attention of young police chief Jo Thibodeau. Now Jo and her neighborhood ex-spies have an uneasy alliance. After a teenager vanishes and Maggie's neighbor becomes the prime suspect, she joins the investigation, determined to prove her friend's innocence. But the girl's wealthy family pushes for an arrest. And when authorities discover a long-dead corpse in a nearby pond, the case becomes doubly complicated, with unthinkable ties to long-buried secrets."--Publisher description.

What an interesting book. Five retired government people, the locals and the summer people along with No the acting chief of police. The story starts with a tragedy a mystery and more secrets come out. Small town mysteries around secrets at least some are revealed and healing begins with fall. Enjoy!
LOVED seeing the Martini Club back in action, and this story had all the twists and turns worthy of Tess Gerritsen's pen. Here's to hoping there's a third book in the works!
And her stories. First book ohh. Second book wow. Strong characters and story. I cannot wait for the next book. And trust me. I hate so many books anymore for the same stories and wanting to sell the next book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it! The characters are well described, one feels as if one knows them personally. The story is incredibly interesting and a great read. Look forward to reading more of this series.
This time it involves the disappearance of a 15 year old girl from a summer home on the lake. Her disappearance brings three of the full time residents of the small town under suspicion. But all is not what it seems on the surface.Another good book from Tess Gerritsen.
