I could not put this book down. I was as swept away as they were! A book about a one night stand and a miscommunication about who tied the boat up, leads to an adventure out at see and discovering who you really are.
This was so much more than a standard romance novel. Don’t think I would even call it a romance novel. There was more character development and some angst, lots of hardship and mishaps, and survival skills and just overall good story telling.
I LOVED this book! I read A LOT of fun and emotional romcoms, and this one was exceptionally unique. It wasn’t necessarily “fun”, simply because of the fact that they’re lost at sea and that’s obviously a potentially deadly scenario, but I enjoyed the heck out of reading it. Laughed, cried, flew threw it.The reviews that gave it lower stars because it’s “not a believable scenario” is just silly— of course it’s not! I don’t know about y’all, but I don’t read these books to feel like I’m living my normal every day life lolol. It was a premise different than anything I’ve ever read before and I find that so refreshing!I also always thoroughly enjoy when a main female character is someone I wouldn’t typically understand or get along with— Lexi is very guarded and “uptight”— and I really appreciate the insight into her mind and her life. It’s books like this that help me understand other people better!Oh, and Zeke is a total cutie, I would’ve been okay with being stranded at sea with him, too!
I've enjoyed every book I've read by this author, and while this wasn't my favorite story of hers, I enjoyed it a lot - more in the second half of the book than the first half.Lexi and Zeke are enjoyable characters, and my favorite part of this rom-com was their character growth over the story. As with her other books, the author does a good job of bringing in the characters' backstory to give depth to their actions or inactions. I appreciate the research she did to make this a fairly believable situation. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my copy of this fun read!
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫Two strangers get lost at sea after tying their houseboat to itself instead of the dock.I thought this book would be sillier than it was, but they really are lost at sea and trying to survive.I really liked Lexi and Zeke as main characters, I thought their growth and relationship really worked. The pacing of the ending of the book was a little too slow and drawn out for me but overall it was good.
