Most books have a flat spot or two where necessary information needs to be inserted or explained in order for the story to make sense. This is not one of those. The story flows seamlessly. Every page pulls the reader along to a satisfying conclusion. Loved it.
I loved this book. This is the best investigation thriller I've read in a long time. I love the style of these authors. It was written by Trey Gowdy and Christopher Greyson. I give both authors credit. I could not put this down. The writing is superb and the steps taken by the main detective are great. There is a frightening judge in the book. There is something at the end of the book regarding another crime that will no doubt lead into another book. It's puzzling at first, but then you realize what it is. I hope both authors write the next book together.
My complaint is not with the book itself but with the audiobook version. It takes away from the experience. Unfortunately I will have to repurchase the Kindle version to read. The reader uses different voices for each character. Even the women. These voices are terribly stereotypical, cartoonish and annoying to listen to. Trey should get his money back on the audio version.
Never boring, a page turner, suspenseful, great characters, all the ingredients for a perfect murder mystery. This story would make a blockbuster movie or tv series as well.I sincerely hope Mr. Gowdy and Mr. Greyson will continue writing suspense novels - they have the gift. Well done!
I was very curious about what the writing style of Trey Gowdy would be like. I was not disappointed. His courtroom and prosecutorial expertise, combined with a compelling writing style, made this a wonderful read. I loved the different layers of storylines in the book. While the ending resolved the primary story with interesting twists, it also left open the opportunity for a second book. Loved it!
