This is so good! The quality is as promised and Tui’s writing is great as always. I can’t put these books down! Must have.

Another phenomenal entry in the series. I just finished reading it last night, and no, I didn’t cry afterwards because of how epic this book was, I cried because I was so happy I finished the book.The characters that we love. Check. The story that we need. Check. Tie ins to the other books. Double check.The point I’m trying to convey is, it is the book we have been waiting for. Snowfall evolves in the book, from being a spoiled, self centered, paranoid queen, to a dragon who will fight for what’s right.It’s certainly better than the Lost Contident, which did bore me a bit, but looking back, it was story building. It’s just Blue seemed unrelatable. I don’t know if this is better than the Hive Queen or The Poision Jungle, though, because those were sort of unbeatable. The Hive Queen is on my top five.I would only suggest reading this if you’ve read every other book because it has tie ins to just about every single one. Including Wren and Sky from Dragonslayer, Cricket, Sundew, Willow, Blue and Swordtail from the rest of the third arc, Darkstalker is referenced a lot, Winter, Moon, and Quilbi make an appearance, and that’s just a few of the tie ins.Each and every book in the Wings of Fire series evolves the series, whereas I feel that this one took a step back and decided to evolve both the characters and the series.

Best series ever, if you want your kid to learn about modern day problems without the trauma? Introducing wings of fire

So flipping awesome would read it a bizzilion times if possible I love the last part in snowfalls vision with Opal and snowfall and how she changed because of her visions!

Considering the rest of the books in the series, this one was a bit surreal to experience. It also didn't feel super relevant to the rest of the story for most of the book. That being said, I enjoyed it a lot anyway.

Great series for younger people

Series Info/Source: This is the 14th book in the Wings of Fire series and the fourth book in this particular story arc about the Lost Continent. I got this as an audiobook (for my son) from Audible.Audiobook Quality (4/5): The audiobook was decently done, I didn’t mind it. There are a lot of characters in this book and some of the character voices sounded very similar. Even given that I was never confused about who was who and the narration was pleasant to listen to.Story (4/5): This book mainly follows Snowfall but ties into both the book featuring the “scavengers” (humans) and the books featuring the dragons from the Lost Continent. We mainly follow Snowfall as she struggles to figure out how to be a good queen and ends up having to deal with, not only new types of dragons, but also humans who can speak dragon! I enjoyed how everything came together and am excited to see how it all wraps up in the next book.Characters (4/5): We spend more time with a lot of the side dragons from other books and get to also spend time with a lot of old favorites. Snowfall is definitely not a dragon I really love spending time with, however she did undergo a lot of growth throughout the story. I enjoyed the other dragons more than her. I loved watching the dragons from both continents interact. I also really enjoyed when the dragons meet the humans who can speak dragon.Setting (4/5): The early part of the book takes place in the Ice Kingdom but we end up in Sanctuary by the end of the book. It was nice to be back on the main Continent. Not a lot to say about the setting, if you are still reading this series you are very familiar with it. Excellent world-building throughout this series.Writing Style (4/5): Again with a series this long-running there isn’t a lot to say that I haven’t said before. This was an engaging and easy to read book. I really enjoyed how so many storylines from the previous books come together in this novel. I am excited to see how the 15th book wraps up this storyline. I started reading these books with my son many, many years ago. They aren’t something I absolutely love because I haven’t really been into middle grade reading anymore; however, I enjoy the story enough to keep up with the series. I do think this is a middle grade series that is easy for parents to enjoy with their kids. I am not sure if Sutherland is planning another 5 book sub-series within this series, but I plan on stopping the series after this story arc ties up in book fifteen.My Summary (4/5): Overall this was another well done book in the Wings of Fire series. I think fans of the series will be really pleased with this. The featured dragon here, Snowfall, wasn’t my favorite but she undergoes a lot of change and growth throughout the book. I did enjoy how so many elements from earlier in the series are coming together so nicely. I am really looking forward to the final book in this story arc.

Let me just say this was an amazing book. I just want to start reviewing but I have to get a long set of stuff that is bad and good. First off main character was super annoying. Okay on to the review.Literature 10/10 Great literature in this series.Romance 3/10 There was that concern for Blue back on the other continent.Action 4/10 Not a high action book compared to the other ones.Gore 7/10 (by the way the higher the number the less gore) Not a ton of combat so not much gore.Spookiness 2/10 The hive is kinda scary but not much else.Funness 6/10 Not the funnest book in the series but not bad.Funnyness 0/10 Nothing funny happened.New Information 10/10 A lot of new informationLength 10/10 decent sized book. My son has been a fan of this series from the beginning and orders these as soon as he finds out they're being released.He found this one to be very good and holds the atmosphere, which hooked him on the series in the first place. While he was doubting whether or not he wanted to continue the series with some of the latest books, this one definitely caught his interest again as it steered more away from 'politically correct' elements and simply went back to the fun fantasy he likes. He couldn't put this one down and read it in one setting, carrying it everywhere with him. He found the plot grabbing and quick paced, as well as the characters interesting. After this one, he says he's definitely not giving up on the series and is glad that it's running back on the sheer fantasy end.

Sutherland!!Your books helped me look at the word from a different angle, like what's it is like to be a princess (Lost Heir) or queen (Dangerous Gift) and even having powers that turn your frinds on you (Moon Rising), oh and don't forget pretending to be extinct your whole life and hiding in the shadows ok the HiveWings (Poison Jungle and Lost Continent)! You'll never know who your parents are, getting kiddnapped by the most dangerous dragon in all of Pyrrhia (Hidden Kingdom and Brightest Night.)What I'm trying to say is that I love your books, Tui!I've read all your books from the 1st to the 14th, also Dragonslayer and part of Darkstalker!!I love your books and I hope you make more, also this is coming from some crazy 10 year old.

I started this series with my 6 yr old (now 7) dragon lover and read ahead to be sure it was appropriate for him. I expected a typical fluffy YA or juvenile series without much depth, but I have been enthralled, especially by the second and third arcs. This latest entry in the series is one of its best. Its protagonist surprised me; I try not to read reviews or info ahead of release due to spoilers. The message it conveyed was a very good one for kids to learn. And while the plot doesn't progress a whole lot during the book, the revelations about some of the major events to date are extraordinary. I never thought I'd feel so connected to a group of dragons, but here we are. Definitely worth reading!Side note: If you haven't read the standalone novels, especially Dragonslayer, you should before you read this book.

The book by itself? It was ok.The book features what begins off as a very unlikable protagonist, although she starts off fine her incessant worrying and the authors need to constantly remind the reader that this dragon thinks ALL THE OTHER DRAGONS ARE OUT TO GET HER gets old quick. Although this does get better as the story progresses, and we get many nice cameos of past characters, this book feels a little flat compared to the rich intense battle scenes of the past books.The book comes across as an in depth character study of Snowfall, but fails to significantly progress the plot in any ways that makes me as a reader feel that sense of urgency.It also seems to be setting the series up for an unsatisfying “and everyone was friends and saved the day with the power of friendship” ending. One of the things I loved about the first two arcs was how dragons didn’t always get along- the lack of disgruntled silkwings or hivewings or anyone for Snowfalls actions was disappointing. Everyone was supportive of her, even when she came across as paranoid and rude. Which, I suppose she was the queen, but still.Overall, the story had several interesting bits- I liked the development of the ice kingdom, and wish there was more of it. I enjoyed the side characters, Lynx was particularly nice.It was good to see Winter, Moon, and Qibli again.Adding the Scavengers felt like a half formulated afterthought as a way to drag the side series into the main one- I would’ve much preferred that Dragonslayers stay separate.Sanctuary was cool, again, I wish there was more time spent on the city instead of Snowfall.Overall, the book was good enough to read, but not one I’d read over and over like I have some of the other books.

*Spoilers!!!this book is definetly the best book of the series Snowfall has So So SO much character development from the gift of vision its so amazing to see her go from grumpy and paranoid to confident and a good queen. i think the gift of vision was an incredibly beautifuly crafted and original way to make her a temporary telepath/empath. i find it a good finale to find out the whole story of Boa and her mother it was truly everything i excpected of this book. and then at the very end how it ended with snowfall learning why her mother had chosen her to be queen was just so overwhelmingly joyful. i get kind of sappy when i read my favorite series so i started to cry. anyway all in all this book exceeds everything i thought it would be and i completly recommend this book to all ages. i cant wait for the next book i bet the POV is going to be bullfrog sky or pineapple

Overall , the book was pretty solid. Great interactions and descriptions as always. There were a few things that caused the star to lower. I was easily able to guess what happened to the animus magic way earlier because Jerboa was the only one who people didn't know, so I wasn't surprised when it was revealed that she broke it. I also was not surprised when Sky appeared and tried to break out Daffodil, as they would literally be the only one who could rally as much an effort to free her. The other humans previously wouldn't of been as capable. Also, the book was surprisingly short. I'm not sure if it was because I read it digitally, but being around 240 something pages caught me off guard. The ending seemed to come a bit fast and was a bit loosely tied up. I still wish to give a high rating despite my dislikes because it was still an overall good book with interesting insights from other dragons. Looking forward to the next one and towards finding out more about the abyss.

Many reviews under other books of the wings of fire series have complaints of book arriving damaged but this one came perfectly new. All of the dust jacket was comepletely flat with no rips or tears or even any faint scratches. The hardcover book itself also came with no marks . All of the pages were printed very brightly and aligned correctly. I've seen on other amazon book reviews that the covers sometimes feel and look different then one that is from a book store. THe copy of the dangerous gift is comepletely legible in comparison to the other 3 hardcover wings of fire books I own. Certainly the same matierial. That is the quality of my copy of the bookThe plot itself, while I am going to resist explaining thoroughly, was extremely hooking. In my opinion the plot wasn't as hooking as the other books of the arc but it was definitely a good read. There are plot twists an characters that were very suprising. Important to note: This book is a part of a series so before reading this one you will have to read all of the other ones to make sense. Obvious but important.Overall worth the wait of 1 year for this book and I am extremely pleased with amazon's quick preorder shipping as I recieved the book the day of release. The book lives up to the standards of the other books.

As someone who's definitely in the older range (30+), I think I felt a special fondness for this book and the protagonist because we get to see someone a position where they wondered if they were ready for it and always wondering how others think they are doing, grow as the book progresses. We also get answers to stuff from prior books.I would say without spoiling too much, but you should read both Darkstalker and Dragonslayer as there are references in this book (or maybe you want to read up on what people are referencing?).Other than that, there's not too much to add - this is the 14th book in the series and the 4th book in the third "arc" so you should've at least read books 11 - 13 (since they are definitely tied to this book) and know what to expect. Personally, I think this is one of the better written books in the series (not that i would say any are outright poorly written/bad - flawed? yeah, but not bad). I think the protagonist is one of my favorites simply because they were relatable - again a young character forced into a role they weren't expecting with doubts associated to it and having to grow.I can't wait to see the conclusion to everything in book 15 and see if there are any more books expected - because I don't feel like I've hit the wall with the series yet.

I don't often write reviews, but something about this book made me decide to write this one.WARNING: if you have not read the WoF Legends book dragonslayer (from the humans perspective) then you will miss some context from this book. Not enough to stop it from making sense, but it will help.Snowfall is Queen. The best queen, she hopes. Her tribe is in danger, she's sure, and she has to be tough and strong for them. But like all people thrust into important positions without expecting it she has her doubts. Now she has to take on something new, something completely unexpected, and it might change everything.Snowfall is written wonderfully irritatingly. Her worries make total sense but often made me want to slap her with a wet kipper (I think more than one dragon probably wanted to as well) which to me is wonderful. I was thinking of her as a real entity, not just words on a page. Now I just have to wait for the next book to see how the events from this one pan out. Where is a time machine when you need it?
