Then--he kicks her out, hires the city's best divorce lawyers, drains their accounts, and takes up with a 20-something.
It's a brutal end to the story. Naomi should accept defeat: move into a dingy apartment, get back into the workforce, and piece together the shattered remains of her life.
Except, why should she?
Instead, Naomi fixates on her husband's new girlfriend. What begins as cynical curiosity soon twists into obsession--and then into something far darker. As Naomi uncovers secrets she never imagined, she realizes her own life may be in danger.

Frieda did a great job with this story. I listened to this book on audio when being to busy to sit down and read, and at night I read chapters on my KU in the dark to let my own darling husband sleep and not annoy him with my light on since he has to get up and work in the morning. I started and finished this book in less than two days.At first, you can’t help but feel sorry for the protagonist Naomi Roth. Imagine coming home with your five year old son to a garage door that won’t open and a front door key that won’t unlock. Meanwhile you’re confused and your son is getting antsy, asking a million questions like they tend to do at that age. Only adding frustration and stress to the situation. Finally your husband comes to the door after you were knocking endlessly and springs a very odd “surprise”. He’s having the kitchen that’s only 4 years old renovated and he’s packed all your necessities for you to go stay at his deceased parents apartment that’s 20 minutes away. He and your son will join you tomorrow. He decided to get the fairly new kitchen renovated so he needs you to get that apartment ready for the three of you to stay there for approximately 2 weeks give or take. 😳 Red flags 🚩 all around. Naomi’s situation only gets worse from there. She’s a “doctor” who gave up her practicing when she had Teddy. Then the next day Dear Husband drops the ultimate bomb that he wants a divorce. He’s cut her off financially and Teddy must stay with him in HIS house but she can still pick him up from school and take him to all his activities- what a swell guy. She is out of her mind with desperation as she did not see this coming. She is convinced they are in love and the happiest married couples she knows. She thinks he is just needing “space”. No way he’d really want a divorce and no way was he seeing another woman! Was he? I was personally getting desperate for Naomi to wake up but to also fight back. The husband was playing very dirty and not being fair at all. I was getting anxiety for this woman. How could she be sooo blind?! And how could she make so many bad decisions??Then I had to remember that I’m reading a Frieda McFadden book and nothing is ever how it seems. I went back a few chapters and re read or relistened and realized certain things simply didn’t add up. Then the book goes into part two and the “Ah-HA” moment came. This book feels very familiar to some of her other books with the big twist and character reveals. Similar to The Housemaid, The Boyfriend, The Tenant and even Dear Debbie herself. In fact I think Naomi and Debbi might have been neighbors at some point 😉
Frieda McFadden does it again! The Divorce was everything I’ve come to expect from her books - fast-paced, addictive, and impossible to put down. This was a true page-turner from start to finish, with short chapters and constant twists that kept me flying through the story.Just when I thought I had everything figured out, another reveal pulled me right back in. Frieda has such a talent for creating suspense that keeps you saying “just one more chapter,” and this book was no exception. If you love domestic thrillers with unreliable characters, messy relationships, secrets, and shocking twists, this one absolutely delivers. I had so much fun reading it and couldn’t stop thinking about it after I finished.Another binge-worthy thriller from Frieda McFadden!
Freida McFadden did it again! The Divorce was addictive, twisty, and impossible to put down. From the very beginning, Naomi’s life feels like the perfect love story turned absolute nightmare. She had the husband, the house, the family, and the life she thought she was building forever—until everything is ripped away from her in the cruelest way possible. What I loved most about this book was how quickly Naomi’s pain turned into obsession. You can feel her anger, confusion, heartbreak, and desperation on every page. Instead of simply accepting that her marriage is over, she starts digging into her husband’s new girlfriend, and that curiosity slowly becomes something much darker. The tension builds so well, and every chapter made me want to keep reading just to figure out what was really going on.This book is full of secrets, betrayal, revenge, and that signature Freida McFadden suspense that makes you question everyone. Just when I thought I had things figured out, another twist pulled me right back in. Naomi’s story is messy, intense, and completely gripping, and I loved how the book explored how far someone might go to protect the life they thought they deserved. The Divorce is a sharp, fast-paced thriller about love, obsession, vengeance, and survival. If you love domestic thrillers with shocking twists and a main character pushed to her breaking point, this one is a must-read.
3.5 ⭐️ Freida dose it again!I enjoyed this fast-pace and twisty story. I was able to read in in 24 hours, making it a great book to bring on vacation or for a relaxing weekend. While the story was pretty predictable, i enjoyed the different points of views. Where it fell a bit short, was in the details that I wanted more of. I wanted more explaining at the end and more detail from the characters.Otherwise, in true Freida fashion, this book was twisty and unhinged.
Just when I thought I had everything figured out, another twist sent me in a completely different direction. I never knew who I could trust, and I was second-guessing everyone until the very end.As a mom, this one was honestly a little tough to read at times. It was an eye-opening look at the heartbreaking lengths some women will go to in their desire to become a mother. While parts were emotionally difficult, it added so much depth to the story and made the stakes feel incredibly real. This story was absolutely unhinged in the best way, full of suspense, shocking reveals, and the kind of ending that reminds me why Freida is one of my favorite thriller authors.
