This book had such immersive storytelling, between the mythological lore, the character work & the action this book is a amazing read.
The Dragon Wakes with Thunder, the second book in its series, was such a fun read! While this series is a Mulan retelling, it takes the story so much further than the fairytale I grew up with. The FMC does go to war in the first book, but the end leaves you on such a cliffhanger.... pulling in cultural notes from the time that supports the actions of others. This second book does not slow down on the action or twists that the first set up! There is a decent love triangle, which I'm usually not a fan of, but it was well done here! I do hope a novella comes out. I am not done with this FMC and want to know if she was successful in her endeavors and if there is a reuniting. I understand keeping the legend alive, but I want to know! I ate this whole series up and highly recommend it.
