To the world, they were a scandal. To each other, an obsession.

NATIONAL BESTSELLER - An epic love story set in the sparkling, savage sphere of elite figure skating, starring a woman determined to carve her own path on and off the ice

"Part Wuthering Heights and part Daisy Jones & The Six, this novel is as brilliantly choreographed as a gold medal performance and will keep you guessing until its last page."--Jodi Picoult, New York Times bestselling author of By Any Other Name

She might not have a famous name, funding, or her family's support, but Katarina Shaw has always known that she was destined to become an Olympic skater. When she meets Heath Rocha, a lonely kid stuck in the foster care system, their instant connection makes them a formidable duo on the ice. Clinging to skating--and each other--to escape their turbulent lives, Kat and Heath go from childhood sweethearts to champion ice dancers, captivating the world with their scorching chemistry, rebellious style, and roller-coaster relationship.

Until a shocking incident at the Olympic Games brings their partnership to a sudden end.

As the ten-year anniversary of their final skate approaches, an unauthorized documentary reignites the public obsession with Shaw and Rocha, claiming to uncover the "real story" through interviews with their closest friends and fiercest rivals. Kat wants nothing to do with the documentary, but she can't stand the thought of someone else defining her legacy. So, after a decade of silence, she's telling her story: from the childhood tragedies that created her all-consuming bond with Heath to the clash of desires that tore them apart. Sensational rumors have haunted their every step for years, but the truth may be even more shocking than the headlines.

It’s a train wreck you can’t look away from… and you won’t want to.

⛸️ "If I became the best, it didn’t matter who I hurt, because in the end, it would be worth it. Even if I hurt myself most of all."I don’t even have the words to describe this book… yet somehow I could write a whole thesis on it 😂I have so many thoughtsI have SO MANY feelingsMy advice? go in blind and just experience it.It’s like watching a drama filled reality TV show about ice skating. it's messy, it's addictive,it's jaw droppingYou won't be able to pick up your jaw off the floor when you read it.It’s a train wreck you can’t look away from… and you won’t want to.

Ice Dancing, Olympics, and Drama.

The Favorites is such a fun and quick read. It's completely dramatic and over the top, but that's the appeal. Everyone loves an underdog story with characters who you love and hate at the same time. Growing up in the Carrington/Harding Olympic saga, this book partially relives that drama, but escalates it to a whole new level. I read a review that said part Wuthering Heights and part Daisy Jones and the Six, I'd say that is apt.

Great sports drama

Wow. Thoroughly enjoyed. Who doesn't like a sports drama? A little slow to start, but once I got into it, I was hooked. For all the other reviews complaining about it not being a romance, I agree, I would call it more of a drama than a romance.

complex characters, a storyline that keeps you engaged

Wow. I’ve been in a book slump and somehow this book pulled me out of it. The characters are complex and stay true to their motivations. Their choices at times are frustrating and not what I wanted- but make sense for the characters Fargo created. The storyline kept me engaged. There was some predictable moments, but several that shocked me too. Overall, I really enjoyed this. If you loved Daisy Jones and the Six, trashy Netflix documentaries, and drama you will too.
