Laura Dave continues Hannah Hall's pulse-pounding journey in the riveting and deeply moving sequel to the #1 New York Times bestselling blockbuster and Apple TV+ show, The Last Thing He Told Me.
How far would you go for a second chance?
Five years after her husband, Owen, disappeared, Hannah Hall and her stepdaughter, Bailey, have settled into a new life in Southern California. Together, they've forged a relationship with Bailey's grandfather Nicholas and are putting the past behind them.
But when Owen shows up at Hannah's new exhibition, she knows that she and Bailey are in danger again.
Hannah and Bailey are forced to go on the run in a relentless race to keep their past from catching up with them. As a thrilling drama unfolds, Hannah risks everything to get Bailey to safety--and finds there just might be a way back to Owen and their long-awaited second chance.
A gripping, rich, and deeply moving novel about the power of forgiveness, The First Time I Saw Him picks up right where the epilogue for the "genuinely moving" (The New York Times) The Last Thing He Told Me left off, giving readers the eagerly awaited and absolutely exhilarating sequel to Dave's global blockbuster.

On the first page of the first book I was hooked.I read the first book in less than a day & the second. One of my favorites EVER! Enjoy!
The first book and couldn't wait to read the second. Lots of information that clears up things and the characters are developed even farther. Love these two books
Writing still great. Gave much background info. Still suspenseful and good character descriptions. A truly enjoyable sequel
Spoilers Alert!! This sequel was excellent! So many twists and turns. It had me hooked just like the 1st book. The love and trust that Hannah and Bailey had. Mother and daughter was great. Hannah planned for an emergency escape. Her quick thinking saved them. Not only did it save her daughter but it saved Nicholas her somewhat father-n-law. Owen had helped with the escape plan as well. The two ladies didn’t know of this until further in the book. This mob type of family were cruel and heartless. I believe the eldest daughter Quinn had something to do with Kate death. For no one to have any real answers to someone being ran over by a car and killed in broad daylight. This family that has so much influence and control and is so wealthy. Couldn’t give Nicholas the answers he needed and deserved. I think he finally realized that it was him and his involvement with this dangerous family that got his daughter killed. And that started this whole thing. That’s why he chose to finally forgive Owen. The only disappointment is not reading more interaction with Owen and Hannah at the end. Wanted to hear her yell, cuss, cry or anything to her husband who has been running/ hiding for almost six years. Great read I love this author’s writing! Didn’t want to put the book down!
I was so excited when I say a sequel to the first book as been published. It is well written with many twists and turns that keeps you reading. You become invested in the characters and cry and celebrate with them.
