The deeper you go, the less of you comes back.
For Paul and his teenage son Ethan, it was supposed to be a weekend of bonding and backwater adventure-an escape from the noise of the world with Paul's closest lifelong friends. But when their airboat breaks down deep within the Florida Everglades, they're thrust into a nightmare far beyond anything they could've imagined.
The Glades are no ordinary wilderness.
This swamp watches.
It waits.
It remembers.
Stalked by something ancient and predatory, the group quickly learns they are not alone. A monstrous hybrid serpent, the product of tampered science and tribal legend, rules these waters, and it's not the only thing lurking. Whispers of an old Indian tribe echo through the cypress trees-people who vanished from history but never surrendered their land.
Cut off from civilization and with a hurricane closing in, the group must navigate a labyrinth of sawgrass, secrets, and survival. As tensions rise and sanity unravels, Paul and Ethan are forced to confront the fractured pieces of their relationship before the swamp swallows them whole.
The Glades is a relentless survival thriller steeped in blood, bonding, and the brutal power of nature's forgotten places.
Here, survival isn't about who's the strongest.
It's about who the swamp lets go.

great new book and thanks
This was a good book but it was a usless cliff hanger. A cliff hanger is lucky to get a 2 star from me. I will never read another book from this author.
The Glades is a brutal and relentless survival thriller that grips you from the first chapter and doesn't let go. What begins as a bonding trip for a group of old friends quickly descends into a horrifying fight for life against not just the unforgiving swamp, but also monstrous, genetically-engineered pythons and a sadistic cannibal cult. Matthew Eric crafts a fast-paced, high-stakes narrative where no one is safe. The visceral action and palpable sense of dread make this a heart-pounding read.
Moody survival story that mixes family strain with some unsettling swamp horror. Paul and his son are stuck in something way bigger than themselves, something old, maybe unnatural and the way it plays out is more eerie than over-the-top. It’s not just about the monsters (though those are there); it’s also about fear, pressure, and how people start to break down. Creepy, quiet, and steadily intense.
This is a four star book if you don't count the final chapter. Sinister events are going on in the everglades and our heroes must fight to survive. A perfect sequel hook was set up and then inexplicble the author switches genre's and kills any interest in a follow up. Treat this as a one off and not part of a series.
