Stroud's Ice Cream Shop has been a vital part of Howell, Texas, for over forty years. But in 2016, Ted Stroud faces several challenges to keep the family business running, not least the competing gelato food truck that threatens to lure away a sizeable chunk of his customers. Through the severe heatwave that weighs down on Howell during the summer months, the rivals' small-town battles escalate. The Great Ice Cream War of Summer 2016 is about not only the campaign Ted wages against his competition but the unwinnable war against constant change and the passage of time.
