A New York Times bestseller!
From Jesse Andrews, author of the New York Times bestselling Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and screenwriter of the Sundance award-winning motion picture of the same name, comes a groundbreaking young adult novel about music, love, friendship, and freedom as three young musicians follow a quest to escape the law long enough to play the amazing show they hope (but also doubt) they have in them.
For Wes and his best friend, Corey, jazz camp turns out to be lame. It's pretty much all dudes talking in Jazz Voice. But then they jam with Ash, a charismatic girl with an unusual sound, and the three just click. It's three and a half hours of pure musical magic, and Ash makes a decision: They need to hit the road. Because the road, not summer camp, is where bands get good. Before Wes and Corey know it, they're in Ash's SUV heading south, and The Haters Summer of Hate Tour has begun.
In his second novel, Andrews again brings his brilliant and distinctive voice to YA, in the perfect book for music lovers, fans of The Commitments (author Roddy Doyle raves "The Haters is terrific. It is shocking and funny, unsettling and charming."), and High Fidelity, or anyone who has ever loved--and hated--a song or a band. This witty, funny coming-of-age novel is contemporary fiction at its best.

My 16 year old son loved this book. He thought is was HILARIOUS and said the characters actually talked like teenagers, and joked around like he would with his friends. He finished the book in about two weeks, which is really fast for him. He said it wasn't super deep but it was really fun and engaging.
Great and easy read for upper high school students. Works through typical high school situations. Some mild sexual encounters. Might want to read before your kiddo.
I kept hoping for a good story line, that never came. Do yourself a favor, and pass. Long, boring read.
I’ve read three of this author’s books and he is the only author who has made me laugh out loud with everything he’s written.
I really like this author’s books because I feel like he’s texting this story out instead of like writing it as a fancy book. Definitely unique in his style lol. I feel like there was no quirkiness though. Like I mean that’s what I expect from this manz lol. Honestly, I was disappointed. The dick jokes weren’t even funny lol. It’s a forgettable book. Forgettable characters. Forgettable plot. I’m still head over heals with Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. That book... I will never forget. This is coming from an 18 year old girl btw! Like my opinion shouldn’t even be taken that seriously like I’ve never written a book, I can’t imagine how hard it is so I’m not even trying to but Jess down or nuthinnn but yeah that my opinion!
