What if the trip of a lifetime ends in murder?
Nineteen-year-old Maisie leaves behind her demanding family to hike the West Coast Trail. One day, she meets Ric and Sera, but what begins as a fun-filled adventure quickly turns sour, with devastating consequences.
Twenty years later, a British woman named Laura is panicked to learn that a body has been found near the trail. But the truth is that Laura knows more about the discovery than she can ever let on. And she will do anything to protect her family and the life she's crafted for herself.
This tense and suspenseful psychological thriller is perfect for fans of M. J. Ford and Susi Holliday.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book, but was pleasantly surprised. It switches back and forth between 2018-19 and about 20 years prior in relaying current and past events, all while the reader is trying to figure out how they're tied together and what happened to the main character during a hiking trip in Canada in the prior timeframe. Several twists and turns and surprises at the end that wrapped things up nicely. Would definitely recommend.
hard to follow who is who and who is talking and who slept with who and who has a baby and who is the father and who is alive, who is dead, who was killed, who did drugs, did she say what? have to rewind many times to see who is talking, who did that? I listened on audio. so, she is her? not who they made us think was talking? was it her? or her, or did she sleep with who - or him or did he say what? they all slept with him and she killed who? and suddenly there is a grown daughter, who had time for that? but, the dog is more important than human life, right? who is the one that has a dog? do you think you know? maybe. maybe not!! I like a mystery, sure. but, I didn't know that I should take notes.
