Don't miss the #1
New York Times and USA Today bestseller and addictive psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist that’s burning up Instagram and TikTok--Freida McFadden’s The Housemaid is perfect for fans of Ruth Ware, Lisa Jewell, and Verity.

Every day I clean the Winchesters’ beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor.

I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew’s handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it’s hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina’s life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband.

I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out… and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside,  it’s far too late.

But I reassure myself:  the Winchesters don’t know who I really am.

I COULDN’T PUT THE BOOK DOWN!

Excellent read! I couldn’t put the book down, I read the entire book in under 24 hours, it was a page turner! The storytelling was amazing and kept me intrigued and wanting to read more. I used to love reading but life tragedies paused my healthy habits and this book made meme realize how much I missed reading!!

I’m not much of a reader and am looking for more books to get in to, I could NOT put this book down. I read the entire thing on my 4 hour flight and am starting the second one now!!

Great read

This was a great read! Read it within two days and it would have been sooner but had to take care of the family lol. Anyway I liked how it had me guessing and I was wrong at what the ending would be. Kept me interested and I thought it ended well.

Excellent psychological thriller

This was my first thriller after getting back into reading and it truly did not disappoint. The chapters were short, yet packed with twists and turns. It was incredibly hard to put down because you just have to know what happens next!! I have not read the other two books in this series but I may eventually do so. I have, however, read The Tenant by Freida and it was fantastic. She is truly a talented writer.

Easy, Fun Read for a Mom On The Go

I read it on my iPhone 14. Perfect for waiting on teenaged daughters to try on 19 pairs of “beachy” looking pants despite living in the Great Plains. Perfect for Valvoline coupon discount oil changes. That sort of thing.

Highly Recommended Thriller

This is the first time I read a book by Freida McFadden and now Iam hooked! Every time I thought I had figured the story line out there was an unexpected twist and unpredictable ending! If you enjoy thrillers, you are in for a real treat. This is the first of a series of 3. Follow this one by reading “The Housemaid’s Secret” and then “The Housemaid Is Watching.” I just finished another novel by McFadden called “The Inmate.” Loved that one as well!

all aboard the crazy train!

WOW!! I thought Nina was the conductor of the crazy train but what a loop I was thrown into! Did not expect that twist to happen! Should I dare say mommy dearest did her kid dirty and helped steer that crazy train till the bitter end!

Didn't think I would read it...

But I did and I loved it!! The suspense was enough to keep bringing me back! Normally I would put my phone/kindle/book down and go to bed lol I read at least 5 more chapters before I woke up and finished it. Great read and I'm onto the next book in the series 👏🏻👏🏻

Ready for the sequel

It took a minute for this book to grab me as I really disliked one of the main characters. However, once Part II began I was absolutely hooked. The plot really drew me in and the pages started to turn themselves. Looking forward to reading the sequel!

A book you won't want to put down!

I'm a read a book during vacation kinda girl. I always wondered how someone could finish a book in a few days when it takes me over a week. You guyssss....I finished this book in 2 DAYS!! and probably could have finished it in one day if I didn't have kids to take care of. I was hooked! It was super easy to read and it kept me on my toes the whole time. So glad I got to read it before the movie comes out.

Amazing!!

I wanted to punch Nina is the face many times, but Frieda said "Nope, I'm going to punch you in the face many times!" And she did! Damn it, I love her for it! I would recommend this book to everyone that loves thrillers, a revenge story and loves the puzzle of wtf ! She never disappoints!!

Wow! I Never Knew What Would Happen Next!

While reading, “The Housemaid”, I was on the edge of my chair with each chapter. Freida McFadden realized how to make me develop disgust for certain characters in this thriller, but then quickly change my beliefs with the following chapter. This is an unbelievably thrilling story that pulls you in with every word, and Freida possesses you to theorize what happens on the following page. However, you will quickly realize that you cannot guess the next moment, let alone the ending. 12/10 recommended for your next read!

WHAT!

I thought this was gunna be a murder she wrote/twilight thing. Like "oh yay twighlight was so good" (insert valley girl accent here). I was wrong, not just another who done it, theres a reason people are flocking for this book. She's actually a fantastic writer, the beginning makes you think it's kinda vanilla but in a good story way then all of a sudden your neck starts to hurt from all the hits your taking, your eyes are bugging out of your head, your family is wondering why your screaming alone on the porch, your dogs are worried, your kids have to make their own supper because you can't just leave it at that, what the heck just happened until the very last page. WHAT JUST HAPPENED. I'm not gunna be the same. Im probably not gunna sleep tonight because im gunna read the next one now because my brain will not shut up now. WHAT THE HECK FREIDA!

Superb!

I loved every page of this story. Each chapter was more entertaining, the fantasies, the relationships. Then the plot twists that just keep coming. You read from 2 different point of views and are thrown for a whirl when everything comes full circle. I am enchanted and just want to read it over ond over again! Starting on the next book now! I think this may be my new favorite author- get your copy immediately!

definitely a good read

I would have given it a 4.5 if an option. But 5s I save absolutely mind blowing, life changing books. There’s nothing negative about the book or the story at all, but for me 5s are sacred. This book reads smooth and easy, it has great pace and development, the characters are interesting and have mystery about them, the story is exciting and interesting leaving the reader wondering what’s coming next. The ending is very satisfying and gives the reader closure. My favorite part about the book is that the author doesn’t fill pages with unnecessary information that you just want to skip over. She gets to the point quickly, she describes the scenes with the perfect amount of detail to provide the reader with exactly what is needed to understand and visualize what is happening at that exact moment. There’s no extra fluff. Even when she takes us into the thoughts of the characters, she does it minimally but with enough precision to perfectly understand the characters’ state of mind. The Housemaid is a perfectly packaged gift of a book, and I enjoyed reading it. Looking forward to reading the sequel.

It was predictable but not like that!

A person steps into the house as a maid and finds one of the master being crazy and the partner being sober, sounds a cliche to a suspense story. But it was indeed there was a plot twist, and I loved it. Millie (Wilhelmina) meets Nina, her master later she finds she's crazy, and eventually falls for her husband Andy who seems fine. But there's always twist. You will enjoy the story and how easy you could read through the book. I can't wait to read next book.

The unexpected plot twist kept me on the edge of my seat, creating an irresistible reading experience that made it nearly impossible to set the book down. The story's gripping nature was so enthralling that I found myself completely absorbed, unable to tear myself away from its pages, demonstrating an exceptional level of narrative engagement that truly defines an addictive piece of literature. enthusiasm.Great twist, couldn't put it down. Twisty and Twisted

I thought I knew where this was going, and while I guessed a little of it, there was so much that caught me by surprise! We follow Millie, recently released from prison and down on her luck, interviewing for a housekeeping job. The job requires some cooking, cleaning, and some childcare, and they do require her to move in. Millie, currently sleeping in her car and in need of a job desperately before her next parole check in, happily accepts the offer when it comes her way. At first, everything seems fine, but things go quickly downhill - making Millie uncomfortable, to say the least. As she spends more time with the family, she learns that things may not be as they appear - and danger may be closer than she thinks. This was addicting! Freida has a way of writing that makes you question your own thoughts as you read - as Millie begins to question her new reality, I felt as though I was going crazy with her. I deliberately put the book away at one point because Nina was driving me nutty with some of the things that she was saying.I really enjoyed the twists in this. There was such a satisfying ending. I'm looking forward to reading the next one, too!

1st book I've read in 10 years- hopefully this is a start of my book collection

Bare with me i dont usually leave reviews and my reviews guna be a bit all over the place. lol.Ok so I dont read. Not a reader guys... I was literally experiencing brain rot from too much social media so I was like. Ok maybe I just need to be in a quiet place and read a book with a cup of coffee. So I just went to amazon at like 3am and typed in "good book" and I was like "oh ya I'm sure maids know a lotta dirt" so I bought that book. (Yes I judged a book by its cover) - and weird side note about me. I haven't read a book cover to cover in 10 years. Since like sophomore in highschool . And so now in my painfully progressed adulthood I actually don't get comfortable reading. I'm not bad at it but I don't have comfort in it. There's a certain reluctance. So all of these reasons I was like w.e. let me buy a book that looked interesting and ya. Great. Great book. There were so many parts where I was like "AHHHHHHHAIDIWIW" YK? Like in a movie. Hahaha. (And then I google they're actually making a movie from this. Figures they chose sydney sweenie as the young one and Amanda seyfried as the old one. FIGURES.) ANYWAY. highly highly recommend. I bought another book by the same author next. I'm hoping to develop a collection or books for me to read. And I can have a collection of books that like I can look at and say "yaaaa I read that" - and develop less than a fear and discomfort each time I read a slide or article in professional school. Haha. Hey, maybe? Anyway. Imma use this review space too to thank McFadden. Yk? Thanks. And i find it cool that at the end of the book she like thanks the reader awh?! Uhm. What else. Oh ya! The actual quality of the book. Ya had that New book smell. It smells like a nob-coffeed Barnes and noble. NawwMean? Alright that's it. Definitely give this a read! It's good as heck! And all the characters are modern like they've got iphones and stuff I'm only used to the "to kill a mockingbird" like. .. non computer time- books. So. Ya.
