"A dark and stormy night. An isolated cabin in the woods. A runaway child with a mysterious past...Thriller fans, buckle up!" -- Jason Rekulak, New York Times bestselling author of The Last One at the Wedding
There's someone at your front door - should you let them in? Find out in a riveting new thriller from global sensation and #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Housemaid, Freida McFadden!
Who knows what the storm will blow in...
Casey's cabin in the wilderness is not built for a hurricane. Her roof shakes, the lights flicker, and the tree outside her front door sways ominously in the wind. But she's a lot more worried about the girl she discovers lurking outside her kitchen window.
She's young. She's alone. And she's covered in blood.
The girl won't explain where she came from, or loosen her grip on the knife in her right hand. And when Casey makes a disturbing discovery in the middle of the night, things take a turn for the worse.
The girl has a dark secret. One she'll kill to keep. And if Casey gets too close to the truth, she may not live to see the morning.
In this taut, deadly tale of survival and desperation, #1 New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden explores how far one girl will go to save herself.

I can't for the life of me understand why I'm so conflicted by this book. On one hand, I enjoyed it, but on the other, I'm not sure I really did. It felt like a Freida novel, but then again, it didn't. I will say that it wasn't much of a thriller, but there were some thrilling factors about it. The "before" and "now" perspectives weren't bad, either. I guess I feel like something was still missing from the storyline, but I can't quite put my finger on what that was.
This isnβt the usual type of book I read. I am glad I did. Itβs a wonderful story that I truly enjoyed. I really look forward to reading more from Freida McFadden.
The start if the book was slow for Me. It started to puck up and what a roller c ok after tide it was!
Such a great book! Iβm a slow reader, dyslexic, and finished this book in just over two days! Written with great heart. The twist at the end had me looking back to see if I missed something! Highly recommend.
Set aside a whole day to read this book! You will NOT want to put it down, I infinity promise π you'll love it!
