"Juicy and tense, insanely readable and surprisingly tender--you need this one in your beach bag." --CAROLA LOVERING, bestselling author of Tell Me Lies
A sizzling, soapy summer debut, in which two women in a wealthy lakeside suburb clash over a cute male nanny, pulling the town's darker secrets to the surface.
DRAMA LOVES A DEEP END
When Danika Crawley attends events at the Aldon Lakes Country Club, heads turn. Danika has it all--beauty, money, a successful husband, and two perfect children. She plans on making this summer her best season yet and has a secret weapon to secure the envy of her neighbors.
Augie Elling has lost it all. Reeling from a post-grad scandal amidst her now-former life in New York, she returns to Aldon Lakes with her tail between her legs. Augie wants to keep her head down, save money, and find a way to leave her hometown for good, but someone keeps distracting her.
Danika and Augie have one thing in common: they are both a little obsessed with Chat, the male nanny Danika hired for the summer. But, unbeknownst to either woman, Chat's appearance in town sets off a chain reaction that threatens Aldon Lakes' carefully maintained ecosystem. As the heat rises between the three of them, the truth behind a long-buried scandal comes to light, and everyone at the club must reckon with the consequences.
The Lake Club is both an addictive, rollicking beach read, and a stylish, deft exploration of a lesser-known region of American wealth.
"The ultimate summer escape. Stylish, smart, and utterly unputdownable." --GEORGIA CLARK, author of Play It Again

This story was intriguing from the start. You have rich people behaving badly and everyone has secrets and something to hide. It is also filled with drama and affairs, and the country club was the perfect setting and backdrop to the story. Initially it was hard to like some of the characters but once the story progresses, you get to know them and understand them a little better. The pacing picks up in the second half, and that is when the big reveals and twists come. I enjoyed the way everything came together at the end. While this wasn’t a propulsive thriller, it was a light and entertaining read perfect for summer. Check this one out if you enjoy domestic dramas with some mystery and summer vibes.Read if you enjoy:☀️ A stunning, summery setting (lake town in Minnesota!)👙 Country club secrets and gossip🤩 Yearning for the hot male nanny🤫 Light suspense that will keep you flipping the pages until the very endNarrated by Teri Schnaubelt and Eileen Stevens who I believe are both new to me, and I really enjoyed their audio production. They brought the characters to life with an engaging audio.
Danika Crawley and her husband, Bill, are very wealthy people who are members of the Alden Lakes Country Club where the admittance fee is quite steep. Members spend the summer playing golf and enjoy the pool and amenities of the club. Danika has two young sons and has decided to hire a manny for them for the summer. He is a handsome and outgoing young man named Chat. She knows that will get the attention of the club members. As she has stayed home with the children for some time, her husband offers her the chance to design the model home of the new housing development he is building. As this is her forte, she is delighted to start.Augie, 22, is back in town after working in New York. Something happened there that she is hiding. So, she is back working at the country club. When she encounters Chat, they recognize one another but she needs to hold back from him. In addition, when Danika sees her talking to Chat, she is furious.Whew. I almost DNF’d this book a couple of times but I just hate to do that so I persevered. My biggest problem is there are so many secrets, none of which are “leaked” to the reader which made me wonder what I was reading. When the book ended, I certainly was not impressed by the story and the ending left the reader hanging about Augie and Chat. Sorry. This one was not for me.I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this book. It never got boring. I never was tempted to skip ahead because there was a lag things in the storyline. It was really excellent. I look forward to meeting more of this author.
⭐⭐⭐⭐The Lake Club was the absolute perfect way to kick off my summer reading! This book is incredibly fast paced and delivers exactly what it promises: messy wealth, juicy town secrets, and plenty of drama.I loved getting the story through the dueling POVs of Augie and Danika, which made it so easy to fly through the pages. The Aldon Lakes Country Club seems like a sunny paradise to show off, but the deeper you get, the more secrets and lost loves unravel. Plus, the hot male nanny character, Chat, completely steals the show!If you love a sun 🌞 drenched domestic thriller with messy relationships and old-money secrets, add this to your cart immediately. Perfect for reading poolside!
Rich people behaving badly?? Yes please! This is one of the stories where you can't stand most of the characters but you love it anyway. Too much affluence, too much judgement, too many secrets! A perfect summer read! Augie was a little annoying also but it didn't take away from any of the story. A definite beach read.
