Sarah Morgan is one of the best criminal defense attorneys in Washington, DC. With a perfect case record and having made named partner before the age of thirty-five, her life is going exactly as she planned.
However, the same cannot be said for her husband, Adam, a failed author, who's grown to resent his wife's meteoric success as he feels it's come at the expense of their relationship.
For almost two years, Adam has kept his affair with Kelly Summers a secret, but everything changes when her body is discovered at the couple's lake house and Adam is arrested on suspicion of murder.
Sarah now finds herself facing her most challenging case yet when she vows to defend her husband--a man accused of murdering his mistress.
While Adam is certainly guilty of sleeping with Kelly, the question remains: Is he guilty of killing her too?

My husband and I listen to books on our daily commute. We love to make up theories. And I gotta say somethings were never expected. We really love this book and next we will listen to the next book
This is my first novel to read from Jeneva Rose. I was not disappointed. To say I was surprised by the ending is an understatement. As a woman, the ending was perfect. I look forward to reading more from this author. If you enjoy Thrillers, Court Dramas, you will be delighted to read this. Thank you Ms. Rose and Kindle Unlimited.
Wowww… Jeneva we need to have some words 😭This story was essentially about a woman who’s having to defend her husband who’s been accused of violently murdering his mistress. This book has so many twists and turns, I didn’t know who to blame more. I was blaming everyone by the end haha. But Jeneva really shocked me! I was not at all prepared for the ending of this story. Definitely a 5 star read!!!
This book was so touching, even though he cheated on her, I think she was really heartless than him. Wow! She played him to the end, and she will kill again.
Definitely didn't end how I expected. Thats why this book was so good. You never knew what was going to happen.

Ooo this was messy (in a good way)! There was so much going on, like even paying full attention it definitely keeps you guessing!
This books has me coming back for more. Total twist I did not see coming. I need more books like this one. This is the first chapter book I can actually say I have even finished reading. I usually get to about the 5th page and give up not this one this one had me to the very last word.
I have to say this book was intriguing…I will say I loved 1/3 of the characters…Sarah, Matthew, and Rebecca and the others not so much. The number one person that was annoying and stupid and that’s coming from another guy, was Adam, for a man who was “suspected” he made every chance to muck it up, but in the end you truly understand how and why he did what he did, and it is not until the final curtain that my mind was blown to find who truly killed Kelly…Looking forward to Jeneva’s next book! Absolutely amazing author in my opinion.I give this 4.25 again all except those 3 were my favorite characters, loved the plot, and sweet backstory and world building from the 2nd home, to the court room! If you love who done its, and like psychological thriller twists in your books, this one has that special place. If you love this then you must read “The Silent Patient” by Alex Michaelilos
This is my first book by Jeneva I have read, all I can say is im hooked. I dont normally read mystery thrillers but im starting to change that. I love a good book with plot twists! And I did not expect that twist! Look forward to reading more books by Jeneva!
Although I didn't see the end coming, it kind of felt like a twist just for the sake of being a twist. I suppose that's the style, kind of Hitchcock, but at the same time it made the beginning of the book feel like a giant lie and that it didn't fit, like it was an ending for a different story.
This one surprised me. Honestly, I went in with low expectations because I'm not often a fan of books "everyone recommends". I noticed however, the sequel to this book, The Perfect Divorce, had recently been released and the premise sounded interesting, but knew if I wanted to read it, I should start at the beginning.I was sure I had figured out the protagonist fairly early in the book and was prepared for the big let down that so many psychological thrillers offer. Boy, was I wrong! This book had many twists and the big reveal at the end surprised me. I would say the writing compares best to Frieda McFadden with a little more sophistication. I was thoroughly entertained. Strongly recommended!
This book will grab your attention quick and hold on to it. There's a lot of plot twist and what you might think are plot holes but in the end it all makes sense.
This book was sensational. The plot involved a murder, an investigation, weeding out the suspects, and a surprise ending. Also, I liked the author's vivid descriptions, including imagery, figurative language, and just-the-right word choices, which created a tension-filled tone. Overall, I liked the thrilling narrative.
Ok so I did throughly enjoyed this book. I feel like it was a great flow with the timeline, I was able to visualize each character, and the suspense lasted until the very end. I only have it a four because I was hoping for a different ending with one of the characters. I will not say which one cuz I dnt want to ruin it for the next reader, because but it’s just my personal opinion. I am however still excited for the next book.
The Perfect Marriage is one of the most gripping psychological thrillers I’ve read in a long time. From the first chapter, I was hooked. The story centers around Sarah Morgan, a top defense attorney, who’s forced to defend her own husband after he’s accused of murdering his mistress. The tension, the twists, and the emotional layers had me flipping pages late into the night.I loved the alternating perspectives—it kept me second-guessing everyone’s motives, and just when I thought I had it figured out, another shocking twist hit. Sarah is a brilliantly crafted character: intelligent, composed, but deeply human. Adam, on the other hand, keeps you wondering what he’s truly hiding. The ending was absolutely wild and satisfying. I didn’t see it coming at all. This book is a must-read for anyone who loves suspense, courtroom drama, and stories about the dark sides of marriage. Highly recommend!
This book was good it had me thinking more than once, and I never saw the ending coming. Some of the characters were a bit strange, especially the relationship between the mother and son, which felt weird. At first, I kept thinking Adam didn’t deserve his wife’s help, but wow that twist toward the end was a major slap in the face for both him and his mom. I originally suspected the killer might be Bob or Anne, and I was partially right! It was an easy, fast paced read, and I flew through it. 3.75 for me
In this psychological thriller, a high-profile defense attorney faces her toughest case yet when her husband becomes the prime suspect in a brutal murder. As she rushes to clear his name, she uncovers shocking secrets that threaten to unravel not just her marriage but her own sense of justice.Having read several thrillers before, I was eager to see whether The Perfect Marriage would keep me on my toes—and for the most part, it did! The tension and twists had me flipping pages late into the night, constantly second-guessing each character’s motive. While the final reveal wasn’t as satisfying as I’d hoped (it veered into the unbelievable), I still enjoyed the journey. Despite a few plot holes, I appreciated the strong buildup and how each clue dropped left me guessing.I’m also excited to hear early buzz that the second installment, The Perfect Divorce, is supposedly even better—which rarely happens with sequels. Now I’m more intrigued than ever, and I’d love the chance to read the advanced copy via NetGalley. Here’s hoping Jeneva Rose grants my request!I recommend The Perfect Marriage to readers who enjoy fast-paced, courtroom-centric thrillers infused with plenty of domestic drama. The themes of infidelity, assault, and murder may be intense for some, but if you don’t mind dark twists and a bold conclusion, this book is worth checking out. Keep in mind the ending might stretch your disbelief, but it still offers a wild ride for thriller fans.
Holy plot twists, Batman! The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose left me completely mind-blown in the best way possible. I went into this thriller/mystery expecting suspense, but what I got was a masterclass in misdirection and a finale that had me sitting there, mouth open, questioning everything I thought I knew. I read this book in less than 24 hours, and now I’m desperately counting down until The Perfect Divorce comes out in April. The story follows Sarah Morgan, a badass defense attorney whose life takes a wild turn when her husband, Adam, is arrested for the murder of his mistress. What follows is a tangled web of secrets, lies, and manipulation that kept me guessing until the very end. I was so sure I knew who was behind the murder—multiple times—and every single time, I was wrong. The way Jeneva weaves the word perfect throughout the story is so clever; it ties everything together in ways you don’t even realize until you’re done. The characters were complex and super well-developed. Sarah was a total powerhouse—she plays life like a chess game, always thinking a few steps ahead. Adam, on the other hand, started off as someone I thought I might like, but the more I got to know him, the more I realized how pathetic and whiny he really was. And don’t even get me started on his mom. She reminded me way too much of my ex-mother-in-law, and Jeneva wrote her narcissistic personality perfectly.I really appreciated how authentic Sarah’s emotions felt throughout the story. Her reactions to the events unfolding around her were incredibly relatable, especially when she was balancing the chaos with her usual calm, calculated approach. I found myself connecting with her on a personal level, cheering her on through the mess because I just needed to see her get some kind of redemption by the end.The dialogue throughout the book was sharp, realistic, and at times, absolutely brutal. One moment that stood out to me was in Chapter 46, when Adam’s mother, Eleanor, picks yet another fight with Sarah. Sarah absolutely obliterates her by saying something along the lines of how her son is a liar, a cheater, and possibly a murderer—and that Eleanor’s constant coddling and over-the-top mothering likely played a huge part in the situation they were all in. It was a harsh statement, but honestly, it felt like the truth, and from a real-life perspective, I couldn’t agree more. The pacing was spot-on. Some chapters were longer, but the shorter ones really packed a punch—they were loaded with important details that moved the story forward and kept me glued to the page. Every twist felt natural, not forced, and the ending? Absolutely diabolical. I didn’t see it coming at all, and yet, looking back, all the clues were there. The themes throughout the book added even more layers to the story. Manipulation, betrayal, and broken trust were everywhere—not just between Sarah and Adam but across multiple relationships. Justice and revenge were also big driving forces behind so many of the characters’ decisions, even when they weren’t obvious at first. The psychological manipulation, the secrets, the lies…it all added to the tension, especially with one character who’s clearly living in survival mode as a result of past trauma.I listened to the audiobook while following along on Kindle Unlimited, and the narration was fantastic. I streamed it on Spotify Premium and have already recommended it to three friends—one of whom is already hooked and the other two downloaded it and plan to start after work today. The narrators brought the characters to life, and you could really feel the shifts in tone when the plot intensified. It was a perfect companion to the book itself. If you’re looking for a thriller that keeps you guessing, makes you question everyone, and leaves you desperate for the sequel, The Perfect Marriage is the one to pick up. Good luck figuring it out before the end—you won’t.
I definitely didn't expect the twist at the end!! I absolutely loved it!! This book was amazing!!Sarah and Adam Morgan have been married for 10 years, in fact Sarah had to cancel their anniversary getaway at their lake house in Virginia because she had to work late on a big case at her law firm. Sarah is devastated and betrayed by her husband; but she still represents him. Adam repeatedly apologizes to Sarah, telling her he loves her. He swears Kelly was alive when he left to go back to D.C. Sarah knows that Adam isn't a killer. But the medical examiner found 3 different types of DNA in Kelly's body, one was Adam's, the second was Kelly's husband, but the 3rd DNA sample is unknown. Could that be the DNA of the killer? When the state charges him with a double homicide, because she was pregnant, his mother wants a speedy trial because he's innocent. Sarah has two weeks to prep for his defense. If she loses, he will be executed.Adam gets house arrest instead before the trial starts. But Adam wants to investigate on his own. Will Sarah find out who the third DNA belongs to?A must read!!
—— Edit: In addition to all I say below, & despite it… After writing my review I had the sudden realization that The Perfect Marriage would make …..** A FABULOUS BOOK CLUB TITLE! **There’s A LOT which can be discussed, picked apart, have differing opinions regarding, etc., etc.My sort of slight “negatives,” gone over in detail below, would be perfect talking/debate points.—— Ok! Now on to my review! :) …..I think The Perfect Marriage was a fairly enjoyable read, start to finish - the beginning & very end being the best parts. The middle, well- there were many times I asked myself if I really wanted to keep reading? If this story was truly entertaining me enough?I realized after completing the book that you can have too many ongoing (& continually cropping up, new) questions & mysteries in a story - without ANY resolution going on whatsoever. It gets a bit mentally/emotionally tiring … chapter after a chapter. And tiring leads to a feeling that’s akin to boredom. No matter how invested you are in the storyline or characters. Or how exciting the mystery started out being, or where it looks like it all may go in the end.Like, perhaps, throw in a couple resolutions here & there. A few solutions to mini-mysteries would be a relief & refresher (even if they wind up being red herrings in the end lol!).Having to hang in there throughout an entire twisty-turny type murder mystery - from beginning all the way until the end, with zero relief in between, begins to feel like a too long clothesline. How it begins to droop from the weight of all the clothes (or “story details/loose ends”) toward the center. In a heavy, distinct shape & color blurring, pace slowing, manner. And just like looking at that over-burdened clothesline, when a story is feeling like that, your motivation to read dips & comes into question. No matter how great the overall plot is.I’m not often, & I mean hardly EVER, taken out of the story to then have to consciously, forcibly suspend disbelief. This happened more than a few times when reading this book.(And my primary genre(s) include a lot of SciFi, apocalyptic topics, etc. And I hang in there just fine. Happily 100% immersed, disbelief easily & naturally suspended for the duration….)But here, within The Perfect Marriage, I encountered THE MOST unrealistic situations & occurrences. Which yanked me firmly from the immersion I had been enjoying, to question the author’s decision to include such a turn of events. There are also a couple of “implied situations” in the story, which are fairly significant events. I guess we are supposed to be able to read between the lines, or ~in some other manner~ know what the heck she meant in those occurrences. (Jeneva Rose truly offers no hints for us, her readers.)In truth, nothing would have been lost- & the story would have been improved actually, from a bit more detail in these situations.I’ve since completed the book & I now *think* I understand what happened. ….Maybe? But I’ll never truly know if what I’m supposing matches up with what the author meant for those scenes. So, overall, it’s an ok book. This is my 1st experience with Jeneva Rose’s work. I MIGHT read something by her again, but with so many greats out there, unfortunately Rose’s stories won’t be the ones I immediately gravitate toward in the future when I swing over to this genre for a read. (Give Freida McFadden or Susi Holliday a try! Amazing!!)Anyway…. The Perfect Marriage might be a perfect book for diehard fans of this author, Jeneva Rose. For the rest of us … It may be worth a read. But if you find that part way through you’re really not feeling it — & are asking yourself if the end is worth hanging in there?Well. This is my experience….I’m glad I did finish the book, despite my middle of the story self-reflection, as I know I would wonder what happened, how it all turned out eventually. And it would drive me a little crazy! LolBut with that said, the conclusion feels sort of rushed. Isn’t really satisfying (to me). And is a bit of a stretch; or contrived.Perhaps lengthening the ending just a bit would have helped? I don’t know.It just doesn’t ~connect~ well to the whole of the rest of the story in general. Like, there were many private moments between the characters throughout the entirety of the story.Yet between then … & the end … the relationships are 1000% different, & the author is asking us to believe it. Sure. Maybe. If we the readers hadn’t been fly’s on the walls / privy to so many PRIVATE moments throughout.Anyway - more I could say on that, but I don’t believe in spoilers! No one likes a spoiler! LolSo, it’s up to you, my fellow reading lover! To give this one a whirl … or a pass!? …..
