In the shadows and flames, Primals will fall...
And from the blood and ash, new gods will rise.
What was dreamt.
Poppy was never meant to awaken, and the consequences are devastating and far-reaching, stirring ancient powers from their slumber and transforming Casteel and Kieran in ways even the Fates couldn't have foreseen. But what that means is the least of their concerns. For now.
What was foreseen.
The Blood Crown has fallen, but what has risen is a far greater danger than they've ever faced. From flesh and fire, the Great Conspirator has returned to the mortal realm, and he wants only one thing. They must stop the true Primal of Death before he regains his strength, and it won't be easy. Even weakened, his influence is undeniable. His power, unthinkable.
Has come to be.
While the future of the realms rests upon them, they won't stand alone. The gods have awakened--each harboring their own blood-soaked secrets. But they must navigate an unbalanced realm, where every choice--past and present--has the potential to not only undo everything they've fought for but also destroy the very bonds that have Joined them together.
For the Harbinger and the Bringer of Death and Destruction has risen.

The Primal of Blood and Bone is the sixth book in the Blood and Ash series, and it's been quite a ride. I started out loving this series, but unfortunately, the books are not as engaging as they once were. On the positive side, Poppy woke up from her stasis; she is now aware of her past, and both Seraphina and Attes made appearances. The storyline with Kolis progressed, unlike in the last book, and we get a glimpse of what Poppy and Casteel will be like as king and queen. However, the book was 1200 pages long, which was too much. Don't get me wrong, I love a good, long book, but the length must be justified by enough story. There were moments when I loved the series, and interesting things happened, but there were also long stretches of boring, repetitive conversations. Sometimes, something would happen, and then the characters would explain the entire event to others, making the reader revisit that part of the plot twice. I will stick with the series because I am invested at this point, but I'm disappointed and wish the magic would return. 3 stars for the reasons above, but this series started at 5 stars.
My favorite thing about this series and related series is how unique and expansive the world is. When I’m in a reading slump and frustrated about the copy/paste romantasy books, I find myself missing and thinking about this series. There is always something new that keeps you interested and invested. Another of my favorite things about this author is she writes extensive dialogue. I enjoy dialogue heavy books because you really get to know and see different character dynamics. However, I will admit that even I sometimes get a little impatient in certain parts of her books, wanting the story to move forward. But as someone who tends to get bored in heavy action scenes, I enjoy her books.Overall, if you like unique/complex worlds and heavy dialogue, this is for you. However, I can see how people can feel bored or like the plot isn’t moving. This author tends to really have the characters talk it out, which I personally enjoy most of the time.MINOR PLOT SPOILERS for what to expect if you are deciding if you want to read it:This is a heavy poppy/casteel book. I would say a good chunk of the first half is them reuniting and talking. Kind of similar to the prequel with sera/nyktos reunion after she was held captive. I missed Kieran, as he was not as present this book. Whatever relationship Kieran and poppy have that goes beyond platonic is put on the back burner. I am fairly patient when it comes to characters, but I can see people being frustrated with Casteel this book. He communicates with poppy about everything except the thing that is bothering him. I was excited about the gods joining the story. We got some, but I’m excited for the final book because I think we will get more appearances. For those who want to know who shows up this book: Kolis, Attes, Rhahar and Saion (very briefly), and Sera. Also, if you read this book, I would recommend reading the Fall of Ruin and Wrath book. The character Thorne is briefly present in this book and seems like he is going to be important for the last book.
This series. I can’t even express how greatly disappointed I am in how this has played out. Book 1 had so many promising story arcs. I loved the characters, the dialogue, the plot line. I got wrapped up in the world and all those that played a role in it. I rooted for them because I could see and feel with them as they struggled through so many different challenges and revelations.I hung in through the next few books thinking that hopefully, maybe, PRAYING that the next book would redeem the one before it. I could see the potential that was RIGHT THERE for the taking. This had so many opportunities to be an amazing, edge of your seat, tear jerker kind of story. Instead all we got was a slow but continuous cash grab by dragging the series out far beyond what it should have been and letting “booktok” steer where the story goes. By that I mean this book was quite literally all fluff and buzz words. I have never read a book faster in my entire life, and not in a good way.I kept hoping that SOMETHING that had even an iota of importance would happen. I kept waiting for literally anything to draw me in because the love I had for Cas, Poppy, and Kieran demanded I stick this through in the hope that they would get a story that does their characters justice, and I quite simply cannot believe that THIS is what we’ve been given. After book 2 it felt like the biggest fall off I’ve ever read. Not to say book 1 was literary genius, but by book 6 I felt like there is no plot. Everything is just geared toward what will make the best 30 second booktok clip, and frankly the way the last few books have been written makes me feel like she thinks her audience is less bright than they are. This felt cheap in every sense of the word. These characters deserved better and so did we.Save yourself the trouble and just read a synopsis online. I wish I had.
*spoilers****Where is kolis? Which god died saving poppy? We know poppy is alive, so kolis was not able to take her essence …. I need answers 🥲 delano my heart broke. I knew something was wrong as soon as she said thorne seem disappointed with her decision of preventing casteel from following 🥴
Spoiler Alert 🚨I won’t say I didn’t enjoy the book because I did to a certain extent. This wasn’t what I was expecting and not in a good way. I wanted more Kieran that what we got. I wanted him to just have been more present. He felt like he wasn’t even apart of the core group. We got more Malik than we did Kieran. Also, why bring back Delano, just for him to die again. It didn’t even make sense. If that was the case he should’ve have just stayed gone because what purpose did his second death serve. That honestly irritated me. This is coming from someone who absolutely adores that character. His death literally was so unnecessary. After, that I didn’t even get to enjoy the fact that I finished this book. It’s an it is what it is situation, sadly.

I have been waiting for this book for a very long time and when I got it, it did not have a cover. All the books have a cover but this one did not and Im pretty sure it was supposed to come with one. Although beautiful, it doesn't match the rest of my books in the series.

SPOILER FREE!!!! WOW! I just finished this book and my heart is still pounding!! I cannot wait until spring 2026 for the conclusion. But then I'll be sad because it will be over!
I am not really sure what to say. This book seemed like a lot of filler until the last 20 pages. And even then it didn’t have the emotional impact I’m used to from this series. There was some action but not much and a lot of fluff that didn’t impact the storyline. Board meetings and discussions about running the kingdom but all the important things between Casteel, Poppy and Kieran were just put off until the end. An end that was lack luster if I’m honest.I am a huge fan of this series but I can’t say this book didn’t let me down. It was like I kept reading waiting to get to the meat but was left fatigued and empty at the conclusion. At this point( after the last two books) I feel like the writing is just to sell more books. Not tell the story.I am not an author that just one readers opinion.
You didn’t need to drag this out. But atleast the next book is coming out next year…. You would think because it has over 1000 pages it would be the last book. But nope… anyway I need a happy ending or I’m gonna lost it

Book was delivered on the exact day the preorder was released!!! I love the book cover details and the colorful interior front cover! The book was well packaged so there were no bent corners or torn jacket cover. Can’t wait to read !
Poppy awakens from stasis but Kolis has also awakened, as have the other gods and Primals. Poppy' s ascension, combined with the joining, has awoken new powers in both Castel and Kieran. The Fates are also making their wishes known and they are not united in their beliefs on how best to maintain balance. While a great read, the book ends on a cliffhanger as more of the prophesy comes to pass.
This book i have a lot of emotions on. There is a lot of information and not a whole lot of action. But a lot had changed with the characters and there livelihood. I think the last 20 percent is where it got really good and intense. And of course a massive cliff hanger!I wish Casteel and poppy still seemed thr same in the previous books with there relationship...it definitely felt off or different and they are a big reason I fell in love with these books and there adventures BUT I can see where there will be a development in the next and final book in the series and I cant wait!
I’ve come to realize I don’t want this story to end.I’m perfectly happy for this to become a never ending story. My favorite series, my favorite characters, my top two favorite couples, pure perfection!
I don't know how I feel.Well I kind of do ... I feel rage ... Sadness, and trauma.. a lot of trauma....I feel like my head will explode any time now.I have so many questions....many theories....I am in mourning.... Delano 😭😭😭😭😭 I cannot comprehend....
The Primal of Blood and Bone might just be my favorite installment in the From Blood and Ash series so far. It not only tied together so many loose ends but also kept me completely engaged from start to finish. Jennifer Armentrout’s worldbuilding and character arcs hit new heights here—everything felt purposeful, intense, and impossible to put down. A must-read for anyone who has followed the series from the beginning!
Well, I had such high hopes for this story and I'm really hoping the final book redeems it. I had to start and stop the book multiple times because I was so frustrated. She needs a new editor who knows the authors books better than this (i.e. Sera saying that Ash can't taste feelings when it is specifically addressed multiple times across that series) and knows how to encourage an author how to flesh out a book. There was a lot of unnecessary conflict/angst and filler spice that truly did nothing to benefit the book. You could take out 1/2 of the spice and resolved the conflict between Cas and Kieran in a better way so that we could have seen so much more of the beloved series characters especially since Poppy did go to Illisium.I will say... the reveal about Valyn was chefs kiss... The ending was truly great and I'm looking forward to the last book of Poppy and Casteel's journey to see how Casteels transformation is resolved.
exceptional. this story, a continuation of Casteel and Poppy's story, is almost complete. Poppy, Casteel, and Kieran have all ascended and are stronger than ever. There are so many omg moments and reveals it will keep you on the edge of your seat. I love how the two series have finally converged. so many answers are revealed with many more not. the glimpse into wrath and Ruin( iykyk) is intriguing, and I hope will kick off book two of that series when we're done here.if you want edge of your seat excitement, nail biting action, mind-blowing reveals, and face scorching spice, then this is the book to grab.5+/5 stars
Wow! Just wow! It picks up where we left off and Im absolutely obsessed with this series. The cliff hanger is epic and I need the last book to come out asap so I can devour it as well. JA outdid herself and it was worth the wait! Keep them coming!
Wow. What a roller coaster JLA took us on through the pages of the Primal of Blood and Bone. All of the puzzle pieces have been slowly revealed throughout the Blood and Ash and Flesh and Fire series, and POBAB really brought them all together. There are repercussions to Poppy’s ascension , and the realms may never be the same. The true meaning of the prophecy becomes clear in this book. The world Jen has created is rich with lore, and the threads woven through the previous books have driven the story to where we are today. It’s clear why this book needed to be e split into two books POBAB was filled with detail that was pivotal to drive the story. It is a challenge to write a review take has no spoilers, because every piece of information is absolutely critical. I loved this book - you cannot miss this pivotal part Poppy and Cas’ story. I am going to be on pins and needles waiting for the last book. Run, do not walk, and pick up your copy today!
Omg this book has you legit on edge throughout the entire book. It has everything, love, hate angst, pain, happiness. Totally all the feels. Part 1 will give you a book hangover. I felt bad for Poppy I mean what other situations can she be thrown into 😂😂😂. So much happens from the get go, and I so wanted to slap Cas and start singing “ Let it go”. (IFYKYK). I love all these guys Kieran and Reaver-Butt always hold a special place. Some old friends make appearances, consequences are put out and a Kolis is being his normal prickly chaotic but head jerky self. You all want to read this, I can go on forever lol 😂
