In the irresistible second installment of the New York Times bestselling Chet and Bernie mystery series, which has been hailed as "enchanting [and] one-of-a-kind" (Stephen King), Chet gets a glimpse of the show dog world turned deadly.

What first seems like a walk in the park to wise and lovable canine narrator Chet and his human companion Bernie--to investigate threats made against a pretty, pampered show dog--turns into a serious case when Princess and her owner are abducted. To make matters worse, Bernie's on-again, off-again girlfriend, reporter Susie Sanchez, disappears too. When Chet is separated from Bernie, he's on his own to put the pieces together, find his way home, and save the day. Spencer Quinn's "brilliantly original" (Richmond Times-Dispatch) and "masterful" (Los Angeles Times) series combines genuine suspense and intrigue with humor and insight for a tail-wagging good time readers won't soon forget.

laugh out loud funny

This is the second Chet and Bernie mystery I’ve read. Just like in the first book, Chet’s dialogue is so cute and funny. It makes me think my dog might have similar thoughts going through her mind. I hope everything turns out ok with Chet’s lump. I hate that the author has left us hanging about the lump in both books .

Chet and Bernie are the best!

Best private eye duo ever. I love the narrative by Chet. So uplifting and funny. Both he and Bernie are smart and never give up. Their teamwork is unmatched.

Excellent series

I love these books! I love Chet who's a great narrator. My 15-yr-old grand-daughter loves these books. Her 17-yr-old brother enjoys them. I haven't found anybody yet who's read even one of them that doesn't. You might even say we're addicted. Not a bad thing if we are. It's cheaper than expensive cars or booze and safer than drugs. 'nuff said? Go get Dog on It; read it. Then read this one and To Fetch a Thief. You can thank me later.

Chet can't this many stars

Love the narrator (Chet) and his consistent optimism. He can't count past two and he's not good with colors, but he's one hella doggo detective.

Fun man & dog detective story

A good read but continuity somewhat wonky. But a good late night read. Some of the character introductions seemed hurried & forced...maybe a few could have waited for the next book, which I am buying.
