NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - Carl and Princess Donut are ready to battle it out in the epic seventh book in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series--now with bonus material exclusive to this print edition!
The ninth floor. Faction Wars. Nine armies enter, led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. The winning team must capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, betrayal . . . It all makes for great fun and even greater television.
But thanks to Carl, Donut, and Katia, this season is different.
For the first time ever, the crawlers have their own army. The NPCs, who are normally used as nothing but cannon fodder, have become fully self-aware and have formed an unprecedented team of their own. And it's not just the crawlers who are at risk this Faction Wars. Any combatant who dies on the battlefield stays in the ground.
For Donut and Katia, the stakes are even higher. No matter who wins the war, only one of them will be allowed to leave this level. If they all want to survive, they're going to need a little help from a veteran or two.
This is it. This is what they've been fighting toward. This is war.

Yeah, I used VeggieTales for a headliner, but whatever… this book really was a lot of fun. I was mad when I learned book 8 isn’t out yet. How did I manage to read all seven books in just a few days on kindle when I hate reading on electronic devices? *sigh* for real, loving the series - some of the goodbyes are hard. But in the end, Carl sounds like Fogrolir Grumbane… never yield, no matter what they do! Hoorah!
This one finds our stalwarts gathering for Faction Wars with a rogue AI running the show and acting quite squirrelly. Some move on and a few depart in the swirl of chaos that is war. We see some very interesting situations and unusual outcomes. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
It was another fantastic entry in the series. Carl and Donut continue to go and the addition of the former crawlers was well handled. There are still a lot of mysteries that are only mysteries to the main characters which is annoying but that is a minor annoyance.
This series for me started as a one-off change of pace that I didn't have any expectations for. 7 books in, and I have loved the series so far. This book almost collapsed under its own weight, and as much as I love a good epic battle, it was just over the top madness. But the personal moments were still there under all the noise. I feel the ending of this book sets up a tighter focus going forward and I look forward to seeing where Mr. Dinniman takes us as we travel deeper into the dungeon.
Princess Donut has become one of my favorite characters of all time, and the part with the scars was crushing.I'd say my only criticism of this book was that it was getting to the point where there were too many characters to remember. But I think that resolved itself with how it ended. Can't wait for #8!
