Go inside a heartbreaking fictional school shooting, minute-by-terrifying-minute. Everyone has a reason to fear the boy with the gun...
10:00 a.m.: The principal of Opportunity, Alabama's high school finishes her speech, welcoming the entire student body to a new semester and encouraging them to excel and achieve.
10:02 a.m.: The students get up to leave the auditorium for their next class.
10:03 a.m.: The auditorium doors won't open.
10:05 a.m.: Someone starts shooting.
Over the course of 54 minutes, four students must confront their greatest hopes, and darkest fears, as they come face-to-face with the boy with the gun. In a world where violence in schools is at an all-time high and school shootings are a horrifyingly common reality for teenagers, This Is Where It Ends is a rallying cry to end the gun violence epidemic for good.

As a teacher, I can totally relate to this book. Brought me to tears at times. Unfortunately, this is the new reality of our times. This would be a great book club book and could lead to some great discussions. Donβt see it becoming a school read due to its nature though.
This Is Where It Ends by Marieke NijampWriting: BStory: B-Characters: B+Setting: BBest Aspect: A quick very YA read about a school shooting.Worst Aspect: Too basic for my liking, more depth of character and story would have been preferred.Recommend: Yes.
Wow!!!I went into this blind. It was a recommendation, I was told it was a short read (what I was looking for between series) so I said why not.I knew Iβve gotten myself in some mess once the assembly was over and it was taking them a long time to get out!*sigh*My heart hurts. This story was so gripping from beginning to end!Iβm still in shock! Such a sad horrible story, to know this has happened. I did enjoy it though.Wow! πππ
Itβs an ongoing joke in my house that Iβm βdead insideβ because all the popular books that are tear jerkers donβt have an effect on me. This is the first book thatβs ever made me shed a tearβ¦ twice. This is like a window into a horrible reality that we never want to happen. But it does happen. Too often. Too tragic. Well written from differing points of view. I did appreciate the heroism from some of the students as I imagine that this would be realistic. The ending tore me apart. Bravo!
I wanted to read different things then I usually readβ¦ Iβm in a challenge and thatβs what it seeks to do! I found this book slow at 2/3 the way through but it picked up again. It had me locked to it the further and further I read the book. This makes you appreciate life so much more and think how life could be over in the blink of an eye.
