The reviews are in! This Is Where It Ends, the #1 New York Times bestseller and one of the Best Books of the Decade (Buzzfeed, Paste Magazine, BookRiot), "could break you." "I am speechless." "The saddest book I have ever read." "Literally tore my heart out."

Go inside a heartbreaking fictional school shooting, minute-by-terrifying-minute. Everyone has a reason to fear the boy with the gun...

10:00 a.m.: The principal of Opportunity, Alabama's high school finishes her speech, welcoming the entire student body to a new semester and encouraging them to excel and achieve.

10:02 a.m.: The students get up to leave the auditorium for their next class.

10:03 a.m.: The auditorium doors won't open.

10:05 a.m.: Someone starts shooting.

Over the course of 54 minutes, four students must confront their greatest hopes, and darkest fears, as they come face-to-face with the boy with the gun. In a world where violence in schools is at an all-time high and school shootings are a horrifyingly common reality for teenagers, This Is Where It Ends is a rallying cry to end the gun violence epidemic for good.

terribly sad and disturbing yet so applicable

As a teacher, I can totally relate to this book. Brought me to tears at times. Unfortunately, this is the new reality of our times. This would be a great book club book and could lead to some great discussions. Don’t see it becoming a school read due to its nature though.

literal tears!

Wow!!!I went into this blind. It was a recommendation, I was told it was a short read (what I was looking for between series) so I said why not.I knew I’ve gotten myself in some mess once the assembly was over and it was taking them a long time to get out!*sigh*My heart hurts. This story was so gripping from beginning to end!I’m still in shock! Such a sad horrible story, to know this has happened. I did enjoy it though.Wow! 😭😭😭

Made me tear up

It’s an ongoing joke in my house that I’m β€œdead inside” because all the popular books that are tear jerkers don’t have an effect on me. This is the first book that’s ever made me shed a tear… twice. This is like a window into a horrible reality that we never want to happen. But it does happen. Too often. Too tragic. Well written from differing points of view. I did appreciate the heroism from some of the students as I imagine that this would be realistic. The ending tore me apart. Bravo!

Interesting Read

I wanted to read different things then I usually read… I’m in a challenge and that’s what it seeks to do! I found this book slow at 2/3 the way through but it picked up again. It had me locked to it the further and further I read the book. This makes you appreciate life so much more and think how life could be over in the blink of an eye.
