The aftermath of a shocking crime sends Jack Ryan, Jr., down a path that leads to international destruction in the latest entry in this #1 New York Times bestselling series.

The quiet of a Texas night is shattered by the sounds of screeching brakes, crumpling metal and, most shockingly, rapid gunfire. The auto accident Jack Ryan Jr thought he witnessed turned out to be a professional hit. Jack may be too late to save the victim, but he'll be damned if he's going to let the hitters escape justice.

He's got just one lead--a meeting the victim was going to. When Jack shows up instead, he's drawn into the seedy underbelly of a small, Texas town and the cold case of a college student who vanished from its streets.

Jack is left with nothing but questions. Who wants it to look like the victim was drunk? Why does someone want an innocent witness killed? And most of all, what's a team of South African hitmen doing in the Lone Star State?

His quest for answers will take Jack from a quiet Texas road to the middle of an international conspiracy and may just cost him his life.

Another great one.

Loving the way they are bringing more characters into the story. Very creative writing and I can't wait for the movie. Looking forward to the next book.

Disappointed South African

I am about halfway through this book but could not resist making a few comments before finishing the book. I hope that the author will take my comments on board.I have removed 2 stars for the way that the author has portrayed South Africa. South Africa is a country with a medium sized economy – it is NOT “on the brink of becoming a failed state” as stated by the author. The author also states that: “South Africa had a troubled history and struggled for decades to add anything of value to the world stage.”This is offensive! It is true that we have a troubled history, but we have resolved many of our issues through peaceful negotiation over the past 30 years. This is an ongoing process; however, our innovative people have certainly added value to the world stage both pre and post the apartheid era. I suggest that the author does better research before making comments like these in his books. I am aware that this is only fiction, and the author has to choose a country for his villains (this is fine, every country has some bad people) but I fear that some readers who do not know South Africa would be tempted to believe what the author has said, and that is just sad.

Nonstop

This is another great example of Clancy books. It sets the stage in a way that one asks where the storyline is. Then it winds up in a whirlwind of characters and action that makes sense of it all. Good read

Love the series but…

A great storyline but the writer repeats the background information of the major characters too much. If you are reading “book 11”, it is safe to assume that you already know the backgrounds of these characters and do not need them repeated so many times in the same book.
